Big thanks to you as well! At first sight it seems not a big deal to make a few calls and put out a few posts, but then all of a sudden a ton of people are showing up and before you know it, it’s a freakin ACTUAL event!!! Lol.

The truth is we’re all a bunch of 13 year old kids who got the keys, so we’re not always thinking of the details. I’m the kid that barely keeps up with the group, and almost missed a few things too, the only reason I didnt was because I was in eyesight of people looking busy, and getting in trucks with purpose and determination in their eyes. Lol. Wasnt expecting the pairing up thing…but in the end it was a great idea and we should do more of that in the future!

This might seem pretentious for our group this weekend, but we almost needed official “drivers meetings”, like actual meetings with chairs and maps and laser pointers and stuff. :D For the next time, I nominate @WiscoPat for drivers meetings.

EDIT: wait we did have an actual meeting in the morning!!!…no wonder I was thinking WiscoPat would be perfect for that lol. Just more those meetings the for every outing…with like an official roll call, bomber jackets and cigars.. we might also need an HQ tent… haha

And also, for group-camp situations where we get split up, there should be a zoning committee to determine the best location to hold “required” social gatherings. I kept wondering why everyone didnt always hang out at the coolest campground this weekend…:D

In fairness, I never went to check out the second coolest campground…:anonymous: It sounded like it was a good time over there too:cheers:

Wait, another thought…. The splitting up into small groups was just an excellent idea! Just perfect. But we needed to have a debrief afterwords (again, with chairs, laser pointers, projectors etc), just so we can hear of each others adventures. :D

To be honest, I never expected to like an outing to an “off-road” park as much as I did. I learned a lot about my vehicle and by watching/learning from others.

I think it was the sweet thread title that kicked up so much interest.

Seriously, though, good call setting up a trip there. I'm glad I came. I only wish I had come up earlier to get more trail time.

We definitely need to do this next year. I'm requesting that we move it a week forward or back, as my car guy buddies are already planning for something the same weekend next year.

That was certainly one of the more interesting recoveries I've taken part in! You were really wedged in between those trees. Leave it to the bright minds on this forum to figure out a way. :)

Might have to look into doing it in August next year. Still looking at doing the trip to Moab Utah in early-mid September. Guess I'll have to start a thread soon for Moab to see who's interested and to start fingering out dates.

The wife and I had a blast hanging with all of you. Really is a great bunch of guys. The more off-roading we do, she realizes the capability of the 4R, (along with my, ahem, judgement :p ) and is getting less apprehensive about the possibility dinging up my Glorified Station Wagon. :crapstorm:You all have fun in Bayfield. I am gonna miss that trip.

That was my 1st experience doing a recovery. I thought it was well done. No dings, no damage, no drama.

Welp, I haven't picked it up yet but the mechanic said it was probably her mud bath that killed the alternator. He said they do make a version for those that have a proclivity for mud. I'll be getting more info on that.

Mid-August could work. We could do that instead of a Pipeline trip. We've been doing the Pipeline in June the last few years, so we could just keep doing that.

So, maybe next year, we shoot for-

    -April: T.W.A.T/Wyalusing
    -June: Pipeline/Bearpaw
    -August: Tigerton
    -September: MOAB
    -October: Bayfield Apple Festival

We can discuss dates later this fall.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I like that arrangement. But it probably should be discused further at @Pixeltim 's place while chowing down on his Kevin Bacon Burgers.

You know the camping season is winding down when you're talking about next year's events :(

That sounds like a good idea!

It's definitely winding down. We still have Bayfield. And, I was thinking about doing a day trip in December or January. Maybe a T.W.A.T. run? :notsure:

We defiantly need to do some snow runs again! Less mud to clean up when everything is frozen.

I don't mind camping in the cold, the wife doesn't care for it. I want to start looking into the diesel heater rabbit hole.

September can be great for camping. But, October is hit or miss. And, November is almost always too cold. I've camped in the cold before, but it's not really my jam.

Last March it was down around 12-15 degrees when I camped at Devils Lake on my way down to Arkansas. Back of truck. Thats winter camping at its best... Snowed on me in Missouri.
