I’ve searched all over TW, including doing the google search with “Tacoma world” and can’t find an answer for this…hopefully I didn’t miss it somewhere.

Can someone who is running the Toyo Open Country C/T tires in 285/75/16 confirm the load rating for me?

There is conflicting info all over the major tire websites about whether they are E rated or C rated, including the Toyo website. See below photos.

That is very interesting, would be the only C rated in that size i know of. The max presure and load figures match C rated, but the weight appears to be 61lbs. That would be heavier then many E rated uptions in that size. Following...

Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking too…even the other stats on the tire don’t really make sense.

If I found a C rated 285/75/16 tire, I’m gonna have to buy them immediately and get rid of my E rated Grabbers.

We are able to confirm the 285/75R16 Toyo C/T are a load range C tire. They are not offered in an E rating

    Mind. Blown. I didn’t think a 285 tire existed in C load.

    Thanks so much!!

This is likely one of the only C rated options in this size as the other ones we looked through are all D or E rated.

Our pleasure, If we can be of further assistance please feel free to shoot us a pm.

Is it true that they are 61 lbs for that size in load C? That seems pretty heavy for the size and rating. Can you confirm?

Being a Commercial on/offroad tire there are some qualities that the manufacturer would have favored over a traditional all terrain. The weight is accurate for the tire.

Tires are a product of compromise, no tire can score 5 out of 5 in every performance attribute, meaning there will always be a give and a take. So for a commercial tire they would have designed the tire to have a longer tread life, quiet ride and fuel efficiency, over offroad traction. With these changes it might have required a different belt package or compound increasing the weight over a traditional C load tire.
