Speaking of batteries, I've had my DeWalt 18v impact, drill, and hammer drill for quite a many of years. Probably since 2008 I want to say. I've replaced the set of batteries once. The two I have I dated them 9/17 so 5 years old, and unfortunately are showing their age. They (DeWalt) doesn't make those batteries any more. There's knock off ones on Amazon, but they kind of sketch me out and I'd rather not set the garage on fire. So it looks like I'll have to upgrade here soon. There was a Milwaukee set on sale at Home Depot a little bit of go I should have bit the bullet and bought...

My dad helped me replace the intake manifold gasket on my Blazer. I was reading the instructions that said to torque them to *insert proper number here*. I told my dad, who was just using a socket driver, what they were supposed to be torqued to and he said "check them".

I checked one and it was spot on.

Even 10 years after he stopped wrenching, he still had the touch.

You can get an adapter to use the newer 20 volt batteries in the old 18 volt XRP tools.
DeWalt brand or knock off. It would make the tool a bit more bulky (as if XPR tools aren't bulky already) but I don't think it would hamper you much for casual use.

:gossip: If you want to buy something new get Makita LXT, you will never want to go back to yellow tools.;)

The proprietor of a local hardware store had a well deserved reputation of a man who could do anything.

I asked for a pound of nails, he reached in the bin, shook his handful a second and dumped them in the scale - 1 pound exactly.

(young Rusty) I said "that was lucky".
"Lucky!" the oldster snorted, "I can do that all day."
To make his point he picked up 5 different products, spot on every time.

We have some of those adapters at work and I can say I hate them they're way too bulky in the hand (never thought I'd say that...) and are just too awkward to use.

Milwaukee will probably be my next brand. That's the bulk of our cordless stuff at work and they go through some serious abuse without fuss. The DeWalt stuff, not so much. Never been much on Makita cordless stuff. Corded, yes, cordless no...

That’s great, some of the better guns allow torque limiting or speed/torque selection. Torque bars are also super helpful. The gold one is the most common for me, with red socket.

We had yellow at the old job. I respected the tools, they had a hard life and held up well. That said I never liked them much, yellow seems to fall down on the ergonomics.

The Makita tools are so nice in the hand and well thought out.

I haven't used cordless red enough to have an opinion.

Yes, propane, NG, gasoline… just different orifice kits or carb body. Some are easily convertible, others, not so much.

If you have the Teflon lug socket set (or combo like me), it’s the match for most of my vehicles.
