Corti's can have some good surprises. How'd you get an intro to the buyer? Good connection to have...

I heard they had M10Rye, called, and he answered. Went and he was there, talked to him for about 30 minutes or so when I went to pick uo

Sure. Have a pour of each.

Look at it this way: Your odds of ever finding Pappy at MSRP are less than 1 in 10,000.

From an investors point of view, risking $100 for a 1 in 10,000 chance or better of a 100x return is an absolute no brainer.

I have a better chance of winning the Mega Millions than getting a Pappy anything at retail.

But, there are at least 5 other very exciting and fairly valuable prize packages. And 14 more where you would essentially get your money’s worth or more back, AND they’ll pay you $500 to pick up (they can’t ship to NC). Free trip to Kentucky bitches!

    I’m still on the fence.

The trickiest part is, I think, figuring out exactly what $100 is. I'm not sure any more. One half of my brain goes "That's a meaningful amount of money", then the other half goes "No it isn't, that's like half a grocery trip now. That's less than 2 tanks of gas."

    We live in confusing times.

It’s still enough money for me to seriously wince if I spend it on a single bottle of bourbon…

That's the trick. I'm trying to figure out if that's still accurate or if I need to update my calibration with the last 2 years inflation.

And if so, I need to turn the thumbscrews on work a little bit and make sure they're keeping pace with the checks.

Well, average inflation of over 8% last 12 months. 29% cumulative last 10 years. Whatever you bought with $100 today you could’ve bought with just $77.50 in 2012.

Yeah. The CPI numbers are no mystery. The problem is they're also the CPI numbers.

Good luck finding a perfect measure of inflation. The reality is, it depends entirely on what YOU regularly consume and how much. Go with the PCE, and maybe inflation is more like 50% over 10 years. But that measure is flawed too. Maybe the truth is somewhere in between. Did you build or buy a house? Buy a car? Buy a boat? Where do you live? Whether or not any index is relevant to your situation can also vary wildly year to year.

At least we know the inflation of bourbon prices is pretty clear…

    Exactly this. Hence my uncertainty.

Thank you for the review! One of my good friends was also just saying this is a good pour too. This very well may be my next bottle purchase.

Very good. Worth the $40 I paid.

Mondays. W12 to start, which will most likely lead to a pour of A107
