I thought the drivers meeting went very well. Thanks to @WiscoPat for doing such a great job of running it. After this weekend I do think some kind of safety meeting should be held as part of the drivers meeting.
Talk about best practices for recovery, winching, safe distances, radio channels, etc.

I do think we need to create a habit of designating a spotter and coordinating through them rather than everyone yelling instructions to the driver.
I know personally I am horrible about doing this and catch myself all the time. It's never that I think whomever is spotting is doing a bad job, just that I'm trying to be helpful.

I thought you guys did great with the spotting... but it doesn't hurt to reiterate best practices.

Might I suggest an alternative to a diesel heater? A separate battery with an electric blanket might be a more effiecient way to keep warm.
Maybe pair that to some onboard solar to make it sexy.

I used a 12v 40w electric blanket at the Wyalusing event this last spring and my only complaint was being too warm. I only needed to run it for them minutes or so.

Did a weekend near Stevens Point that bottomed out @ -13*. Then there was the weekend at Wyalusing (where else?) where it got to -18*. Both were in a tent.

Oh, and the week in Colorado skiing that 3 of us spent in the back of a pick-up. May have gotten down to +10*.

All incidents were a long, long time ago.

While chatting with some of you guys Saturday night I mentioned that I assumed most of you had seen the YouTube videos of WhistlinDiesel punishing a Hilux, answering the question, "Is the Hilux really as tough as Top Gear says it is?" Turns out, most had not seen it. It's painful and hilarious at the same time. Here's the link to the first in the series. I highly recommend watching all 4 videos in the series. Quite entertaining.

I had an '83 Hilux and refuse to watch someone especially him destroy a quality truck just for views!

Personally I think buying things most us can't afford just to destroy them goes against my better judgement.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Hey, no big deal. I don't think I was paying attention to what was going on @ camp. I felt rushed all day, wish the other commitments hadn't been made. The trails at that place are really good. I enjoyed the hell out of them and am feeling a lot more confident...which will lead to pushing more in the future I'm sure.

The smaller groups was definitely the way to go there, would have been difficult in some places to get everyone out of the way to let others by. The pipeline is a lot more open in that regard.

It was great to meet the new guys, I'm sure we'll meet again/get a chance to talk more.

I washed down the undercarriage a bit yesterday. I didn’t try too hard because of next weeks trip though.
Today, I really got under there to look at the trail kisses and touch them up in case the brine starts flowing on the streets sooner than expected.

Nothing too huge. “Just the diff” and “just the trackbar” and “just the shock and shock mount”. ;):D

Scratched bottom of the bumper, but you know the drill on that one. I dare that bumper to get torn off.

I learned one lesson…. I will NEVER do this type of off roading again…EVER!!!!…..

    ….without 285s.

A little rustoleum oil based enamel made these disappear.

The shock mount and shock already had scratches from previous trips apprently. Those 265s are dangerous lol

Hey all, thanks for your patience. I went the Dailymotion route but got capped at around 13 videos for now. It says I can try again tomorrow for the rest. I got pretty much everyone who did Boulder Bridge and some other stuff from the first day. Still have @McSpazatron's climbing and some more of @pearing just sending it on the second day. Let me know if it works. The mobile function of this site is a little wonky so I've had to use Desktop mode.

Are you able to view it this way? I might have to embed the videos here one by one. Sorry for the spam posting ahead of time.

So looking at the poll there is nothing in for roughing it at a hotel. The wife and I plan on being up there around 4 pm Friday. Maybe we can meet for dinner?

As of now, I was planning on being in Bayfield for the festival Friday afternoon. We'll probably get dinner somewhere in town. I'd like to try a different place than last fall, just to see how the whitefish livers are. :D

PM me or I'll PM you my # so we can stay in touch.

I'll try to post as detailed of an agenda as possible sometime next week.
