Yeah, *Flume Trail itself is easy, but well worth it just for the views. The nearby Tyrolian Downhill Trail is an incredible ride. The jump lines are legit, and you can ride right up to the shop afterwards. Flume Trail Bikes will handle the shuttles for both, and there are a few creative ways to combine all of it into a single ride if you're not afraid of some steep climbing. I also highly recommend the Tahoe Rim and Flume Trail IMBA Epic route on Trailforks if you have the legs to finish all 25 miles.

Any recommendations on sweet campsites in the Salida and Grand Junction areas?

For Salida I was thinking of checking out the Mt. Shavano area.

Grand Junction maybe Southwest of the city on some blm lands.

Did my first lift access bike park day this weekend at Highland Bike Park in NH. Such a cool experience - prior to the trip all I have done is XC and enduro type trails where you had to earn your turns by climbing. Could only session downhill runs as many times as the legs can carry you back up. There are some really fast flowy jump trails as well as the typical New England tech trails I am used to - planning on getting back there one more time before winter shows up.

Quick picture my buddy took on an enduro type trail called Faux Pine -was really enjoying the rock slab runs. The Fezzari never felt under biked with the travel and held up well to the harder hits. Not sure when the legs will recover through.

no real recommendations for the specific areas youre talking about.

ive camped in the 4 mile area just east of Buena Vista. If you're heading to CB/Gunni you can find a spot in Hartman Rocks just south of Gunnison. Bonus there are tons of trails right there and they race the original growler there.

you might be able to camp northeast of salida, but again its not something i've done.

Junction was tricky last time I was there. We camped north somewhere in grand valley ohv area, and it was a dump. literal trash everywhere. there was a picked apart honda accord, like doors taken off, seats out, it may have been set on fire at some point. people cruisin around in side by sides and atvs all night.

If you go west to fruita, you may have some more options. ive camped at the last exit in colorado before utah, on the south side of i70. a few spots around there. rabbit valley i think. there was a reserve camp area, but a lot of dispersed spots around there too. some signs for a handful of pull offs that say dont camp, but more that dont have any signage. i pulled in around midnight and left by 7 am, so not sure if anyone comes around to check. if thats full im pretty sure you can head to the north side of i70 and a few miles in you should find spots. if you go too far on the southern side, the road turns into a pretty gnarly 4wd trail, but there are other roads to explore that aren't technical.

Was going through some photos the other day and came across some of my old Kona Unit.

I've bought and sold a ton of bikes but this is the only one I truly regret selling. I've even tried to find it again.

Life is too short for cheap tools and centerlock adapters...

If you travel with your bike a lot, centerlocks save you a lot of time (I always remove my rotors when shipping or traveling with the bike).

There’s a little loop on my home trails that is called Little Moab. I’ve only tried this section once, and…lets say I walked most of the down sections! Ha. It’s great spot to ride to, with two steep, short climbs that rewards you with a beautiful view. Then, you drop into the first of three Moab slick rock areas. I’ll say I was able to ride 1.5 of the three spots. I gotta get someone up there with me that actually knows the route/lines and what they are doing on these types of features!

Completely agree, and I wish they’d do away from 6 bolt rotors after seeing how great center lock rotors were after having them on the Firebird.

Head a little farther west to the Fruita area and hit up the BLM lands near 18 Road - both the riding and views are fantastic!20210409_193135.jpg

That has always been my go-to in the area, but I've heard it's currently closed to camping. Not sure if that's accurate or not, but just passing along what I've heard.

It's official. I'm no longer overland AF and sold my roof tent to a friend. VAN GANG FOR LIFE

(I did request first right of refusal if he sells it) Probably over 100 nights in that thing over the years
