Why the two kW ratings on the plate though? Only one of them says 7.2kW.

Depends on the load and wiring. What does the range have for inputs? The heating element is likely phase-phase, but many units will have a neutral input to utilize 120 circuits for controls, fans etc.

120/240 is most common for household usage (240 phase-phase, 120 phase-ground). 208/120 is usually based on a 3 phase panel (208 phase-phase, 120 phase-geound). Most 208/120 systems are used in commercial applications. Both systems are dictated by the transformer feeding the panel.

Inputs as in wiring? Looks like it’s two hots, a ground, and a neutral. The neutral and ground were bond together in the original installation before I picked it up. The wires going to it seem like a very small gauge which surprised me.

Here it is before I dropped it out of my truck haha. I tried to catch it (why would I try to catch a 250 pound oven?) and cut my finger up bad on the glass.

Inputs on the oven itself, not the wiring in the wall. If it was bonded N -> G in the range itself, I would have to look at the schematic. You'll likely want to have an individual ground and neutral conductor ran to the unit, but hard to say for sure without a manual/diagram.

    277 is based on a 480 3-phase system. 277 is based on 480 phase-phase, 277 phase-ground (really 480 divided by square root of 3).

It’s no issue having to run an independent ground and neutral to the oven, since I have that in the wall right now. I’m just concerned if I need to run thicker wiring in the wall, or if I’m okay just swapping the breaker and outlet. Let me get you the schematic.

What size are the phase conductors on the current 30A circuit?

Yep. Been hit by more shit than I care to admit. Was an electrician and electrical testing technician by trade for the last couple decades. Been hit with almost everything. 5000V Meggers are special, but cable capacitance over miles of MV cable hold a special place in my heart as they release everything at once. Feels like getting hit by a semi truck...

Thats one thing I havnet fallen for. When someone says grab the leads of a motor megger lol.

capacitors are the things i hate getting hit by the most, worse then any voltage i been hit by so far

Go cut the orange cables on a Prius. I hear they’re nasty. (And deadly)

Yep. Instant release of full voltage. Been knocked to my knees, breath gone on too many occasions. Doesn't take long to learn those lessons on discharge before touching. Live/dead/live doesn't always catch it, have to learn to test, then ground before making contact.

Looks like it’s 10GA, it’s what I had the sparky run when they did the 30a circuit for my air compressor. I think orange means 10GA. It’s a very short run. Less than 5 feet from the NEMA 10-30R outlet to the panel opposite of the wall.

A little blurry trying to view through phone, but looks like it's calling for L1, L2 and N (black, red, white). Doesn't call for a ground, but likely needs an equipment grounding conductor that ties to the frame not included in the schematic that I can see. What is the distance from the breaker to the range and what is the desired use (i.e. do you plan on using it for more than 3+ hours at a time)?
