    Nuttin honey.
Same with me. Every joint ached after 30 days. So I’m on some non statin stuff. Helps but I am and will always be high.

My LDL is in the 130's, total under 200 - been on Welchol for probably 15 years and it's kept it under 200. Doc now wants me on statins to get the LDL down to under 100. I've heard about all the side effects of statins and I really don't want them....

    Almonds??

    OMG!!! that's ridicules IMHO

I like my Welchol - keeps me under 200 total and no joint aches, plus it doesn't go through your liver - just stays in your intestines.

    evening boys

Honestly? I had my cholesterol checked on the 90's and it was high. My triglycerides were through the roof. The doc wanted to medicate, of course. I asked a few people I knew and started making a mix of cashews, almonds, dried cherries, and M&Ms, and my cholesterol went down enough that it's still over what they say is preferred but close enough that I don't worry about it. I was told recently that the old recommendations have been raised so I'm probably good now. I had my veins scoped a couple of years ago and no plaques... so I'm not on any meds other than the occasional over the counter aspirin/Advil.

Arthritis in my knees and I'm pretty sure my right rotator cuff is going to need some attention soon, and I had that hand that was atrophying last spring which I had surgery to relieve pressure on the nerve.

I wish I lived in a state that had legal cannabis. That's what I get for living in a theocracy.

    Evening Carl. How goes it?

Mine was never over the 240's, but because it was over 200, it was too high. Will add cashews, almonds and dried cherries to my shopping list and give that a try until my next test in Jan.... Don't mention knees.... was up at my son's a couple of weeks ago and my left knee was barking - they have a 2 story house - when I got home. Usually don't have a problem here at home as long as I take my glucosamine/chondroitin regularly. Oh, well - maybe I need to go down the stairs the way the boys do - on my butt

Last I heard 240 is in the range of acceptable. Supposedly that recommendation has been changed. Ask your doc.

My doc says 200, but since my LDL is over 100... he wants it lower

Have a great time in Perth, Ken - I've done a bit of business with the Hoffman machine works there and my visits were a pleasure. My wife and I stayed at Mindarie - up the coast a bit.

Thanks Steve we will. Our Aussie friends live in Perth so we will use it as a home base. Leaving in a bit for Calgoolie(sp) then back to Perth to repack for the East coast. All is nice. I'll post up some pictures later.

Been dealing with this since I was in my 20s . Allergic to statins . The last 2 I was on worked good for a couple years then BAM I’m allergic to them also . LDL was 211 last week :annoyed: not good . It’s hereditary. My dad had a quadruple bypass at age 50 and has since had some stents added to his heart . Still going at 81 years old . I’ve had some doctors tell me statins are no good :notsure: very bad for you . Also I’ve heard the low dose aspirin is good and bad . Who they hell knows . Big Pharma is all about the almighty dollar . Waiting to hear back from my cardiologist ! Also all my other labs are good except the cholesterol.

This is my take on stating and cholesterol. Most people don't even know what cholesterol is, they think it's a fat that's in the blood and that's not true. That was the image created by the drug companies. Cholesterol is a much needed substance in the human body, it repairs nearly every living cell in the body, especially the brain. The reason they find cholesterol in blocked arteries is because it is present to repair the damaged arteries and not the cause of the blockage. That's why the body produces it. They put me on statins in my 30s, caused all kinds of problems for me. When they got my cholesterol numbers down to what they wanted I had chronic headaches and major problems with my a.d.d. so they put me on another pill to deal with that. Pills, pills, pills. Then I had problems with depression and brain fog, couldn't get an erection or maintain one. All because they preached to me about cholesterol, which is a total crock of b.s.
So I got off all the pills, cholesterol went back up to the exact number it was before all of the pills and treatments for a disease I didn't have and all my problems went away. Your body knows what it needs to keep it healthy.

How many miles on the Tacoma?

Hopr the follow up appointment goes well for you. Take care Susan, yardwork is not as easy as most people think it is.

I do not have many regrets in life but not going to Australia on R&R when I was in the service is one of them.

My son usually gets the artist to autograph a business card when we go to concerts. He keeps them in a frame on the wall.

Today is loading crushed rock into the Tacoma to take down to my cousin's farm for him to use in his goat pen. After that it is working on removing some more shrubs. It is getting harder to do yard work.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/pill poppers. I got flu/C***D shots yesterday, both in the same arm. I wanted to do the shingles shot but that turned out to be a whole ball o' woe. I found out my Part D doesn't cover the shingles vax so that one will set me back about $200. My wife got the Shingrix shots when we were still on my employer's insurance, no charge. I'll have to take a look at the end of the year but I feel as though this "free" Medicare system is costing me more than I paid when I was employed!

I take a statin for cholesterol, 10mg daily. No side effects TTBOMK. I used to take 5mg and had to cut the pills in half because they don't make that size. Imagine that -- an effective dosage that isn't available. One wonders why.

My mother's mother found out she had high cholesterol when she was 95 years old. I guess that means it runs in the family but it also means I tend not to get all het up about it. The wizards keep moving the 'good' and 'bad' numbers around, so even after all this time it is an evolving treatment. My mom was 'allergic' to statins but I think the real issue was that they wanted to give her a huge dose and she didn't tolerate it. All of the people in my family that had issues with statins had been put on huge dosages.

Oh crap. I just spent all this time talking about medical stuff. I know what that means!
