Good Afternoon

Just got back from the VA and everything is set for October 26th for my knee replacement surgery . I'm first on the list for surgery that day and need to be there in Nashville at 0545hrs hours and will be there overnight then head back home the next morning

Only thing that could cancel the surgery is no beds or staff available due to a spike in Covid cases

 

Don’t bet on that next day thing

I know , but I must stick with my strengths.

 

I know 4 people in a lot better scenario than him.
Always took 2 or 3 days.
Now that being said, he could jump up and walk his ass right outside.
He may not want to go home the next day..
It’s not a cakewalk

 

I know that this is a very drama free place and I’ve been very conflicted about coming here with this. But I recently had dear friend of 20 years do something very deliberately shady to me and the only reason I considered coming here with this is for some wisdom. If this isn't the place for it then maybe private is the way to go..

 

Yup, there is also the "insurance co" says I am ready next day vs. the "am I really ready to go home" thing.

I, sort of, remember a rotator cuff surgery where they were wheeling me out the door and into the car and I was barely conscious, much less coherent. But it was 5 o'clock to them.

 

The surgeon who's performing the surgery and others in the Ortho dept say that's the normal procedure . They usually see the patient upstairs in the Ortho ward during evening rounds and check on the patient and once again during morning rounds . They check for possible DVT's " blood clots" . They also ask Physical therapy the following Morning after Surgery to get the patient up and out of bed and walking with a walker


They do the same for patients who had hip replacement

 

Hips and knee’s are different.
I do hope they kick your ass out..

 

Yep they had my wife walking around a couple hours after surgery and home a couple hours after that.
