Ok, so I allegedly have 33s (cooper ST maxx) on the way. Should I go 4.88s or 5.29?

Normally I’d say dont even bother till your on 35’s but since u toe a lot more than me id consider 4.88’s

ive been told 5.29’s ring gear is so thin its more prone to breaking but i havent done any resarch into it.

Get a scan gauge then wheels and monitor trans temps then decide if u need to re-gear

i tow with 295’s and truck doesnt seem to struggle at all

Stock gears on 33s with armor and bumpers and slushbox temps stay around 85 (80-100 is the optimal range).
Converter can warm up to obo 105 on long hills but that's normal

Stock gears and 37's .
Do gears last in case you decide you don't like a big tire.

 

Drive with a tune first and see. I'm on stock gears and it drives like a 2nd gen on the highway with a 5-speed automatic

sounds like quite the upgrade

 

OV was a big help in 2016-2019, but the factory tune was improved in 2020 enough that OVTune won't be noticeable. Go with KDMax or OTT7.

 

Will do. Already on OV but if you say it’s that big of a difference I’ll check it out.
