    Reserected from the dead.
They kind of suck after 50 mph.

    Top heavy and wind resistant.

Fine if less than a couple hundred miles from home, longer than that you want them gone.

I don't collect models but if I did it would be one of these.

    ACBUS004-1.jpg

    ACBUS004-3.jpg

The 1956 GMC Greyhound PD 4501 Scenicruiser bus. This is the holy grail of all busses, 1001 of them were built.

Years ago I was motoring along, doing my own thing and the extra eye in the side of my head spotted one sitting far off the road. :censored: !

Well, I planted my boot on the stop-o-matic and wheeled my little XJ Cherokee around to go bombing down a secondary road and skid to a stop in front of a cluttered driveway.

And there it sat ladies and gentlemen: 40 feet long, 8 feet wide, 11 feet high, weighing in about 29,000 pounds with an 8V-71 Detroit in the back for power...
...and a FOR SALE sign in the windshield...

So I piled my fat ass out of the XJ and commenced to caress the somewhat moss covered aluminum body of this 10 wheeled iconic spaceship styled piece of Americana.:drool::drool:

I wasn't there long and this amiable fellow saunters on over, "So, you like the bus, eh?" he says. Well, naturally I launched right into the chapter and verse of the 4501 story like one does when in that euphoric state just before doing something incredibly stupid...

When I finally took a breath he said "I'll give you 500 dollars towards buying the bus...."

Clarity was immediately upon me like a sunbeam on an overcast day.

    I said "You're the neighbor aren't you?"
He said "Yeah, I hate this thing..."

To this day I believe the man was serious.

A local dealer has one Platinum trim F150 Lighting in stock. It's used and they're asking $150k (includes a $70k markup). Apparently they're better suited for powering a house than towing... o_O

That is a deep rabbit hole those die-cast cars. Might have to pick up a couple gas pumps for a future display piece. They called us off work the rest of the week.

Hurricane rain has begun. Hopefully wont be too bad.

I remember these and the Amtrak “Skyliner”… both were fun to ride in… back when that was common…

It appears each of you would die here. I too prefer 70s. Yesterday afternoon was pretty otherworldly temp wise. Appreciated every moment.

Oh god yes. I have so much diorama fodder from my modeling days. Building one-offs, like barn finds, wrecks, etc. everything you would find laying around in a garage or gas station. Matchbox is a whole different scale from standards at that time - 1:43 or 1:64 of course models at 1:18 or 1:25.
