Engine failures aren't brand specific. Ford's had its fair share of eco pop engine problems too.

No “longblocks” available for the 2GRFKS,
At least not factory new Toyota parts. I’m dealing with the same issue….. different circumstances, But the same exact issue.
Your options are build the short block, reman engine, or junkyard pick.
I’m in the process of rebuilding from a brand new short block as we speak…… not fun, or cheap. Heads cannot be decked/resurfaced if out of spec, and cannot be purchased complete either….. But heads should be viable for rebuilding if the truck did not overheat. At least that’s what I’ve come to understand thus far.
    Really sucks to hear OP
And totally know where you’re coming from.
If you need any info I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned

Fair enough, probably not the valve issue. I do remember a case with a cracked cylinder recently though too.

My point is that jumping to “oh it’s used so it’s been abused” is not a great conclusion to jump to.

But a fair assumption is the jump to "these engines have a flaw" look at all these threads?

I'm surprised the op just didn't go with a low mileage junk yard engine....gotta be a few around by now. Seeing all the work above, it'd be more cost effective i would think.

im seeing an 11k mile engine for around $7k it would be the faster option but based on his price from the dealership "7580$ USD" to fix it that might be the cheaper alternative.

Now is a good time to spray some rust inhibitor in that engine bay.

There have been similar failures documented on here on trucks with near-impeccable maintenance. I haven’t seen anything in this thread to indicate the truck was poorly maintained or “abused.”

Besides, most cars nowadays get fairly casual maintenance; yet most still make it to at least 100,000 miles with only an occasional oil change. There’s simply no excuse for a power train to not make it to that milestone with modern QC and machining.

Barring some extreme circumstances (run out of oil, driven into a lake, etc.), the buck stops with the manufacturer for these kind of low-mileage failures, IMO.

How can you say there have been similar failures when you don't even know what the failure is?

So DON'T try to drive 60k more miles after someone tells you your engine is knocking? Got it.

Best of luck OP. They better detail the truck at the end of the repair as a courtesy.
