Way too much water splashing in front/onto windshield going through puddles?

If I hit a deep puddle at more than 20mph, it cascades in up and in front of the truck, and is then blinding as I drive through the waterfall. Anybody else experiencing this, and have any ideas on how to mitigate? It's a major safety concern for me, as Houston experiences nuisance street flooding all the time, and I don't always have enough warning to slow down before hitting a big puddle.

Those with a viper cut--does this problem get even worse?

The trick is to hit the puddle at about 50 mph. Water nails the poor mutha-fucker riding behind you. Always a good time!

    Solution:

    a: don’t drive through puddles
b: drive slower through puddles and use crawl control
c: go faster and hydro plane across like a jet ski

you'd be surprised at how speed vs splash volume applies to this.....only takes a few times to figure it out.....sorry...it has to be said!!!

Like I said--I slow down when possible, but I don't always have the chance, especially on the highways here.

Maybe I'll just super-glue some splash guards to the bottom of the bumper corners....

Tacoma does it less than my old 86 did. Sick approach angle has something to do with it I guess.
You could always put the chin spoiler back on.

Rain-X your windshield, then you won't have to wait for the wipers to work.

No money, all went to truck...
You don't have enough warning at 20mph to see a large puddle in front of you?

You truck has windshield wipers right?

I'm not sure what you could do to stop the splash. But I use the RainX wiper fluid every time I fill the reservoir in my vehicles. Been using it for over 15 years now. It fills the pores in your glass, and water beads and rolls off very quickly. Often I don't even have to turn on the wipers in a light or medium rain. And I'm in southeast Louisiana... so conditions are very similar to yours. The RainX is available at Walmart and Autozone, probably other places too.

You are/were a fire fighter and you're asking this on Tacoma World? Were you in the movie Roxanne?

You all need to read some of the responses to this same questions on the other forums. They are excellent. Wrangler Forum:

The bastards are when you think it's just a bit of water on the surface and it turns out to be 4" deep... the volume of water outpaces windshield wiping ability for a few seconds, and it's very uncomfortable.

Surfacewater drainage in Houston is an ever-worsening problem.

The water you are hitting is what is being thrown forward, that you subsequently run into. The front spoiler from the Sport model is the solution.

You may be a bad-ass at hitting puddles with your Taco, but you will never be as bad-ass as Moses parting the Red Sea!

Try it in a 90's Miata. It will make the truck feel much less impressive.
