There technically isn't. Toyota is/was known to be years behind on what versions are available to download from the link in your comment. They seem to be doing better now.

Dealership did the headunit update for me free of charge.

I told them I was having issues with Bluetooth connection and wanted a head unit update.

    Took them 10 minutes.

You were right. I put my VIN in the Toyota link and the file is older than yours.

And here I was thinking they finally got off their ass and caught up to their own TSB's!

I don’t know how new your file is but the Toyota one was last updated 2017 I think.

First of all, thank you, @ktbell444 and the others for all of your work. I just read through all 22 pages. Secondly, a disclaimer: I don't have a Tacoma, I have a 2017 Sienna, but was directed here in a search for why my phone keeps disconnecting/connecting over and over. I don't know if any of this applies to me. I have downloaded the update files in the first post, but none have a model number starting with 15. The HU is labeled: P11261. Toyota's website shows "No Updates" available for my unit. I don't want to attempt an update if this might cause more problems than I already have.
    Your advise?

    TIA

The update software is foolproof. If the model number doesn't match or if the software isn't newer, it will not attempt an update.

You'll likely need to find someone with TIS access to pull the software.

    Sorry!

Thanks for responding. Am I correct in assuming that if none of the updates start with 15, none of them are for mine? I would just take it out and try, but my wife drives the van and she is gone all day.

Correct. The full Model ID matters.

    You're welcome.

It is, but keep an eye on this thread. Someone might jump in on a subscription to TIS for other downloads.

Looking through the Toyota TSB's, I'm not seeing any that match your model, but there is 9 pages to dig through. Regardless, I do believe I have a handful of files that you can try. Like @tonered said, if they're not for you, they will not allow you to install. If you want to give it a shot, let me know.

    Thanks for the files!

I flashed up my HU since I'm a serial updater. I had no existing issues and the new version is working well.

I feel seen. No current issues, but I can't resist a software update. It's an illness.

It is a compulsion. I just wish they were as cool as a new phone or computer OSs where nice, new features would drop.

Yeah, like you'd be able to place any of the parameters from the truck's electronic communication buss up on a custom display or something.
Oh, heck, you could verbally ask, "what is the transmission temp", or command a change in cabin temp for example.

Whoa. That'd be cool and likely easy for Toyota to have done. Opportunity missed.

My wife's Subaru is a click more advanced in this regard, and it's a 2019.
I have no idea what the newer models can do. :frusty:

I know you can purchase one of these ScanGaugeII devices from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AAMY86?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

But, Toyota is pulling a lot of information from the truck it doesn't allow me to see easily, but could. It's tabulating things like hard accelerations, hard cornering, hard braking (essentially accelerometer data), fuel level, door lock status, miles driven, vehicle GPS position, and serving that all up on the Toyota smart phone-application.

Agreed, it would be likely easy for them to do.

It only ratchets backwards when it comes to features, like when they removed the Pandora app.
