I’m in the middle of the 3 little micro climates. There’s places in this valley that once the sun gets low in the winter and drops behind the hills in November it doesn’t shine directly on the ground until late January. I’m probably a couple hundred yards North from the shadow. There will be an inch of winter wonderland Jackfrost then green grass in my yard. I lived in that shadow for 10 years and when I bought this place I made sure it wasn’t in it. South side of the Skagit River is a cold dark place that no one should go and if you really know, you know exactly what I’m talking about it’s a different world over there.

    Hahaha!

I know the south side of the Skagit. It's like fucking Degoba. Great riding road.

We're in a small valley that I want to get out of. The sun goes down about 30min or more early. Told my wife that I want a bunch of acres on an isolated hill top.

Sand is shitty for the environment here too as it clogs rivers. Probably the least of all the evils they spray on the roadways tho. Seattle for sure (as always) is the worst/dumbest tho. With all their good intentions they put magnesium chloride (salt brine) as soon as sub freezing nights are in the forecast. Then it rains (shocker, right?) which washes that shit right off, then it actually freezes a whiny bit, and then they scramble and salt because it’s too late for the brine….:annoyed:

You are spot on. These folks have zero talent or skill for any kind of logical planning.

Anyone know what could be causing this clunking/creaking noise when I turn? It seems to happen on the front driver's side wheel well area. Not sure if it's the control arms or coil overs but it seems to happen when those parts have weight put on them when turning or hitting bumps. This became really noticeable after the BDR trip a few weeks ago.

See the 3rd Gen Poly Body Mount Group Buy thread. Well worth doing all six IMHO.

    Stock-ish
Buddys shop down in Vancouver retubed both shafts/all new joints and nice slip boots for around $600, think the rear retube/joints was around $330. Go that route if you do a 1 piece, instead of the $800ish for the Tom Woods/other brand shaft.
Heres mine after 1 day in the rocks, still nice and balanced but will probably go with .156 wall next time.

I’m doing preventative maintenance while waiting for my clutch parts to show up. Figured 213k on my stock U joints is probably time to replace them. They were still tight but a probably a ticking time bomb. I greased them every oil change while I was waiting for the last drip. Center bearing was on its last legs though. Couple good wacks with a hammer and the rubber popped off so I could get my puller on it.

check to make sure your brake calipers don’t have play. I had a clunking I couldn’t find and it turned out my brake caliper would shift on my rotor even though my caliper bolts were tight.

It’s annoying but not difficult. Probably better to go with OEM rubber mounts though although they’re pricey compared to the cheap poly mounts. The poly mounts can give you a squeak from hell after a while. I hated them on my old Ranger until that thing got fully caged!

I put that info in the 1st Post. But it was pretty easy other than my ABS wire debacle. All the info is there also to avoid it, which is super easy also. Just a brain fart on my side.

Oops! I thought you posted that in the Body Mount thread.

Just some interior disassembly, loosening the body mounts, jacking the cab, and swapping the parts. Not bad at all.

For you guys running 35x10.5 Kendas, did you regear? It can’t be that much more rolling mass than a 285/70/r17 right?

You will notice but can get away with it. It’s not the end of the world but don’t plan on passing people.
