the main risks are you become really smug about your truck being better than everyone elses. after the tune, you will also have a tendency to turn any thread here into a tune thread no matter what the subject is.

Not sure about that, but have you driven a tuned 3rd gen?

Take that advice with a grain of salt.

In the year I've been on this board (today is my 1yr anniversary) I've learned:

    Buyer's Remorse...which I've turned into Upgrade Remorse.
Regional Forums...introducing yourself to people in your state/region.
    3rd Gen Forums
    Introductory Threads
    Color Tacoma Threads
    Automatic vs Manual Transmissions
    To Skewp or Not
TRD Pro vs Sport vs Off-Road

I must enjoy reading through threads of interest because my wife thinks I pay more attention to this forum than doing chores in the house.

Not to mention the amount of upgrades I've done to my truck...which begged the question from my wife, "Why do you need that?"

Back to the tune...if you're thinking about it, talk to a tuner...you can search out the company you want and ask questions.

    Good luck!!!

    Who said it’s better?

I asked you if you drove a tuned truck.

Yes 3rd party tunes can hypothetically blow up your engine. The flash process can also brick the ECU e.g. if the cable got accidentally knocked loose. Stick with tunes that have been proven by thousands of people, KDMax, OTT7, etc. and you'll be fine. No need to wait until after break-in. If you plan on installing bigger tires soon, let the tuner know so he could adjust for it.

Break-in procedure is in the owner's manual. Basically no towing the first 500 miles and avoid redline the first 1000 miles. I was OCD and changed the rear diff oil after 500 miles and the engine oil after 1000.

Well you know, I'm just doing my little part to help enlighten the uneducateds. I feel so fortunate in driving a tuned truck, that it's a community obligation to lift the masses from their filthy, miserable ignorance. That's why I talk about it. I want to be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem...

    Thaaaanks.

No money, all went to truck...

Hehehe. Pity us uneducated fools, thank you for your community service.

I have driven an automatic tuned truck. I would like to drive a manual however. It was hard to compare drivability because I have manual. In the end I went with SB. I hate writing this because I know it'll spark more debate that's been beaten to death... I apologize....
