Had to drywall one block wall that would have been too thick with furring strips. Ditched the whole house vacuum- sorry “fan”. Furring strips on the remaining walls and a decent view and mild weather!

We have a couple people coming out next week to quote windows and a few doors. Will feel like a totally new house soon.

Question for the plumbers in the group; had to redo the kitchen sink and install a new garbage disposal. Everything went fine except I now have a slow leak from the non-disposal side of the sink. The leak is coming from where the drain/basket meets the plastic slip joint.

I have replaced the gasket and nut at that location, I have it pretty tight. Would this be a good spot for plumber putty?

That little gasket is the top hat type gasket, ferrel, that has a lip that sticks down into the flanged tail piece, if nothing is available, pipe dope will work, putty may just squish out.

It looks like you might have the wrong tailpiece to mate with the trap.

Yes, the seal is flat not beveled, the "top hat" style as mentioned

There are two sizes to those things, right? 1 1/4 and 1 1/8? Something like that. Should be snug to start.

Can anyone explain to me why after having a great weekend around the house, puttering around doing some little things, but just honestly enjoying a quiet weekend with the family... that Monday morning as we're all trying to get ready to head out the door, get kids dropped off etc, 1 child can drop an action figure down one toilet and flush it, and the 1 child (didn't do anything wrong) flush the toilet and the fill value malfunctions and will not stop filling.

    :annoyed:

Starting Monday off with toilet issues isn't a good sign for the week.

I just turned the water off on the running toilet and I'll deal with them when I get home. fml

This group is always so thoughtful. Much appreciated mate!
I was hoping so, but turns out it was an unwrapped chocolate bar.... Saving that one for later.

So a little more shrub "trimming" today...

    20220927_141406.jpg

    20220927_141443.jpg

Also cut down two overgrown evergreens that were dead inside. Needs to Start over.

    20220927_141555.jpg

So it's going to look pretty bad for a while, heck probably into next summer before it all starts looking ok. You might be wondering why am I butchering all this. Everything had just gotten overgrown and was crowding each other. Take this picture for instance, a Holly bush was growing right into the back of this one.

    20220927_141846.jpg

Still got lots more to go, but I have to go bit by bit so my burn pile don't get too big...

Got new work boots for the house; chukka (slide on) Redwings. Curious to know what people are wearing for socks? Seems odd to ask but the boots are snug and I’m looking for some thinner work socks

I have the same boots, and I wear Duluth Trading Co midweight socks. They will stay snug until you wear in the footbed.
