    Hi all,
I wanted to ask for some advice as the last time I bought a decent bike was a 1990 DB Axis…
Anyhoos I’m looking at a used bike for my wife and it’s a brand I’ve never heard of. So I guess I’m asking is it a good bike and deal?
It’s a 2018 Ghost Lanoa 2.7 full suspension for $500. From photos bike looks barely used, the tyres still have the moulding hairs!

    not enough.
401 is a must! especially if you can shuttle it. But also at the park, Happy Hour!

and if you can somehow set up the shuttle itself or do the horrible climb..... Dr. Park.

We dealt with that a couple months ago when a bunch of us shipped our bikes to a buddy out west in advance of our trip. All the guys that had to clear that hurdle had boxes from direct to consumer brands (Alchemy, Spot) which were considerably larger than shop only brand boxes. Seems those bikes show up pretty much assembled which would definitely require more space than a bike shipped to a shop and assembled by a shop rat.

Flying with your bike is definitely more cost effective with the right airline but TSA can be a major pain. I find it works better with a purpose made travel case vs cardboard. That said I tend to ship via Bike Flights ahead of time. Nothing like getting to your destination airport and bike didn’t make it on the flight. Then you’re dealing with that (setting up a rental :annoyed:) before heading out to some off the beaten path place to ride ASAP. Fun times

I keep telling myself I don't need a full size but seeing this makes me question myself haha. I normally use a hitch rack but when I go on longer road trips I prefer to keep the bikes under the cap...doesn't work great with a Tacoma haha. Maybe getting a long bed will help with that issue.

I like putting airtags in my suitcases when I fly, I'd definitely recommend it for traveling with a bike.

In the Fox Dialed series Jordie had lost like everything but luckily knew where his stuff was because of air tags. It seemed like it doesn't help you get it faster but at least you know where it is while it is "lost" haha

    Yeah.
I don't have any direct experience with the brand, but I have seen a few in the wild. They appear to be a decent budget brand and use a Horst-link suspension design like Specialized. That model has a decent spec with Shimano SLX, so I'd say $500 is a good deal if it is in the size your wife needs.

Did both last year in a couple of days. Dr Park whooped my ass since I couldn't shuttle either places. 100% worth the effort nonetheless!

$500 is a steal in my opinion. Just the drivetrain is worth at least a few hundred! As long as she isn't doing gnarly stuff it's a great tag-along bike for someone starting off

If I were to do this with a Tacoma, I'd look at the overall height of the cap. With a smaller truck, you may want to opt for the mid or high rise cap. I shove everything to one side because I put my camping gear on the left in that photo. You can see I staggered the fork mounts so the handlebars all clear which saves quite a bit of space (I could push them closer if I was really strapped for room or needed to bring more stuff. On the Tacoma, just have to make sure the bed is physically long enough for the bikes. My truck has an almost 7' bed so I can line the front tires up along the front wall of the bed for traveling if I need to (you can see in the photo, the smaller wheels from my kids' bikes just tuck away nicely, the front tire from my bike is currently in the cabin).

Yeah man, currently sorting out of a frame only is feasible for me. Sucks that shock not included in frame only price. Can be had just more money for an already pricey frame.

That's a good looking bike with solid geometry. I've wondered how their suspension design feels. The steel flex pivot chain stay is also interesting. I don't normally associate steel with intentional flex even though I know technically all materials have a bit of elasticity before permanent deformation.

This happened on flex stays. I trust them

Update: guy I sent link to has made this into a sport/hobby. He’s got time on his hands it seems. After being unwilling to accept anything less than the deal he purchased, Sales sent him to their Legal Dept. After no satisfactory resolution there he’s filed a complaint with the FTC. But no bike and no deal at this point.

Looks pretty sleek in steel when compared to the big tube modern bikes. Is that a flex stay rear? Couldn't find much info on suspension design at a quick glance. Geo looks pretty dialed.
