I believe he's going to spray the idler pulley to narrow down the issue.

I wish I could, but it more or less requires a lift. It doesn't have to go to the dealer. Do you have an independent shop you like?

102k. And prepping for the trip, the cash is a little tight as we are getting ready to pay for Tessa's boarding for two weeks. No dogs allowed off the pavement in most National Parks. And we're hitting four of those.

O know of one or two by reputation, and one neighbor who did some minor work at their family shop.

At that mileage I would get a clutch kit as it should have the throw out bearing, pilot bushing, pressure and friction plates. It is doable without a lift but not fun. The throw out is going to get louder but you could probably do your trip and be ok, but I haven’t heard how bad it’s whining or how long it’s been doing it.

Just started Sunday running around town. It's been parked since. And it sounds like an idler or tension pulley.

Didn't do as much damage "from the photos perspective" as I thought it might have...you must have done the ol' floor it just before impact technique, right?

I locked’em up and swerved but my rate of speed was still considerable as it’s a road I know very well, and the speed limit is 55, and I was headed home after a long day, and you see where I’m going with this.

Saga update. Drove about 25 miles around town, freeway and city. Couldn't replicate the noise. Going with pulleys for now. Compressed air blow to blow out anything that might be in there and WD in the truck. May grab a spare for the tool box for the road trip.

Yea very true. I’ve seen the aftermath of a deer come through the windshield, break the passenger seat, and exit through the back glass like a sabot round.

I think Michigan deer, especially the bucks, are a bit bigger than what's down here. I saw what was the remains of a 12 pt take out a super duty. Deer pretty much exploded on impact, but folded the hood, pushed the radiator back and disconnected the head just above the shoulders. That took the windshield and wound up resting behind the crumpled hood. On a super duty. That must have been the size of a small horse. Had a friend total two cars in one weekend headed to the hunt up north. His and a rental car. Never fired his gun.

Motorcycle doing a wheelie at 63mph + Deer on country road...didn't witness it, didn't know the guy, but was there when he arrived and could smell the burnt hair and dead deer on his gear and on his bike!!! Still couldn't believe he didn't get thrown/didn't die.
