I bought my Tacoma shortly before the new Broncos were released. I briefly had the thought "Should I wait for a new Bronco instead? They do look kinda cool..."
But according to @BottleShark it looks like I made the right choice.

(In 2 years of ownership I've never second guessed my decision)

Interesting story from a guy who has been on both sides. I guess once a Toyota guy, always a Toyota guy. I wouldn't know, they're pretty much all I've ever owned.

It's still 100% incorrect to say "all manual Tacomas are short beds," regardless of context. 2nd time I've seen someone make that same statement this week, it's not true, and shouldn't be stated as fact. No need to confuse the configurations that have been in place for 6+ years to new users/readers.

Grew up in an all FORD family. My dad worked for them in the 60's and that's all we ever knew. When I finally became an adult (Hmmmm?) I bought a new 2015 SHO twin turbo with the Hi-performance package. I thought it was going to be the tits! AWD all the bells and whistles to boot... What a POC! It was too heavy even for the twin spoolers. I'd have to dump another 6k into the upgrades and tunes to make it what it should have been from day one. Then the infotainment gremlins attacked! It would actually have the "Bluescreen of death!" The entire dash would go black while the Microsoft system would reboot! It in and out of the dealer for 6 months while they tried to fix it. They flew out a "Specialist" who said they needed to replace the entire wiring harness. It would be laid up for 6 months and no loaner. I contacted a "Lemmon Law" Lawyer who said it would cost about 6 grand to go after FORD. I had them factory reset the car and it seemed to stabilize for about a week before it crashed again. Traded it in! Safe to say I'll never buy another FORD. They just build sub par crap and they don't stand behind their products. Moral of the story "Love my Taco!"

Probably should have held onto that FJ, I will never part with mine. FJ's are achieving collector status fairly quickly given the limited 7 year production run.

PS: gotta admit I do get the vapors a bit when I see one of those beefed up Broncos.

I know this will get a lot of hate but I’d trade in my Tacoma for a bronco in a heartbeat. Ive owned three wranglers and miss being able to take the doors and top off. Felt like I had a transformer for a car with all the different configurations you could run.

Ive drove though haboobs, rainstorms, nor’easters doorless and drove though Zion with the windshield and top down and loved every minute of it. I use to drive recreationally and Offroad about 25k miles a year bc it was so much fun but with the Tacoma its taken me almost three years to hit 25k. The cab of the Tacoma just feel so cramped in comparison to the open feeling a wrangler had. I just can’t get myself to enjoy driving or off-roading it like I did my wranglers. The one upside is unlike the Jeeps the Tacoma is not at the dealer every few months for warranty work and will probably last past 100k without a few thousand dollar repair bill, doubt the Broncos will be anywhere near as reliable though either but it’s the price to pay for that enjoyment I got

Reliability is the price we pay for no convertible. So far so good.

    What’s a haboob?

I had the windshield recall done and had to have the Transfer case replaced because of a leak, was damaged while installed. The inside actually felt more cramped to me than the Tacoma. And unlike a Jeep, the buffeting with doors and top off was kinda bad. But there are many people who love the Jeep and Bronco, just not for me.

I don’t want to be hateful or sound like the Bronco is junk. Just didn’t work for me.

Your post was very tasteful. You did not sound hateful or Ford bash at all. I had a really killer 2005 Jeep Wrangler that was green I purchased brand new. That thing was in the shop constantly but I loved it.

and a two door?!? Your crazy man, but I get it. The simplicity of the Tacoma is why I love them.
