I'm not going to say it'll work perfect. But with HD's and 4" hydros I bet you would be ok. Thing I am starting to realize with the HD's is even if you're a little over sprung with them like I am, you can still make them work perfectly by using less compression dampening and focusing more on dialing rebound in. Mine is absolutely butter with no weight but can still handle a decent amount of weight in the bed. My latest video on Instagram does a pretty good job of showing what this thing is like. Shes just chilling in the passenger seat filming it. Speeds were 40-50 for the whole video. Its ridiculous.

i think it was dmz that did a set of king air shocks on the red tundra they built for when it was towing on their sua setup on it. It had a spot to unbolt them from the axle when it wasn’t towing and bolt them up to the frame out of the way.

 

Air shocks would work great for extra weight carrying for sure. And it's not like it's that hard to drop 2 shocks out and put 2 back in. I can have mine out, opened, valved and back in the truck in about an hour. So probably about 15 minutes to just swap around. Or you could use hydro bumps to help with it too. Make some bolt in blocks that take up a few inches between the housing and the bump and just let it sit right on the bumps.

 

Zach did that too ( prinsu inventor ) he has a supplemental set of sir shocks he adds for towing

iirc bypasses with those air shocks he would charge to whatever pressure needed for when towing. Ultimate versatility right there

 

would be better to just add a second set of mounts to add the air shocks when needed without removing your other shocks….you don’t need a bunch of travel when you’re towing so they dont have to be big long air shocks just some short supplemental add ons

 

Wouldn’t air bags and a cradle be easier to modify than adding air shocks? I never seriously considered doing air shocks, but the idea crossed my mind for my Ferd and I researched it a little bit. Ended up doing remote control air bags and a knock off daystar cradle.

 

nah i think a simple air shock would be much easier, get one that has eyelets top and bottom and it's just two bolts, small light super easy. Just add a tab to your shock plate and one to the frame and thru bolt it. Don't need any air lines or on board air just fill right at the shock. If you really just need something to firm up the ass end only when towing or say when you've got a 1000 kg's of Columbia's finest in the bed then just keep it stupid simple... $75 & fill em' with your compressor at home...pop em' off when your done and go braaap

 

That would work as well. Personally I’d just make spacers and bolt them in between the hydros and housings. Adjust pressure if needed and go. Lots of ways to make it work

 

I am too lazy for all that. I like hitting a button on my phone and having the air magically flow into the bags

 

oh im strictly talking about a DD Taco that you need to tow with a few times a year and then go braaap the rest of the time. i’m not talking about you rich fuggers with two trucks
