    For those who like Japanese luxury. Mid 90s Toyota Crown Royal Saloon spotted at East Carolina University. Toyota didn’t sell this car in the United States, however they did sell a similar car, the Lexus LS400, as the first official Lexus model. This car shares the power train and front end from the Toyota Celsior, and has its own backend similar to the Toyota Avalon.

    Some notes:

    This car actually has the headlights from a Lexus LS400, since the Celsior and Crown headlights were all one fixture. The air suspension obviously failed. The backend of the car has a Celsior badge instead of a Crown Royal badge... why? idk

    Go Pirates! I attended ECU for 2 yrs before moving back to Indiana. Lived in Morehead City. ECU taught classes at Cataret Tech. Teachers drove down so students didn't have to drive to Greeneville.

    Funny story on the Crown Royal Saloon. I am retired from Toyota. Made many trips to Japan. I once asked a Toyota designer why they chose the name "Saloon". He said it means "elegance" or "luxury". I said, "no, it refers to an old West bar where cowboys hung out". A look of shock came over his face. He said "I think somebody make chombo (mistake)". They really meant for it to say "Salon"
