It was a great season anyway. Podium finishes in every race. (All firsts and seconds, mostly firsts)With a new car, new setup. Real proud of ourselves.

I did all those things this year. Second Shingles shot kicked my ass for a few days. It was like having the flu. Last week, I took a hit in each arm at the same time: flu and updated covid shot. I had no side effects. I assume this isn't your first colonoscopy but if it is, the preparation and not eating are the worst parts.

I took my first shot of the season last week. It was about 60ish yards, which is out of my crossbow comfort zone. It was also my first miss of the season.

    Morning all:

:( I also missed a buck on my first shot of the season last year, hopefully you will get a second chance and put some venison in the freezer.

Sounds like a good year with the new car Mike , a broken part is sure better than wrecking though

Mike - any chance of having one of those shafts modified to change that awful stress riser? Instead of that small radius, needs to be a sweeping tapered radius 25 mm - or more. Could perhaps be precision ground and polished on an existing shaft by a talented shop......? Depends on the level of heat treatment at the center.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Appointments and errands today and tomorrow - so, I'll clean up the reuse parts in my spare time. Maybe do the yard Thursday so I have all day Friday to enjoy putting this back together!

@ImpulseRed008 , I looked at that brace and ordered a cheapo version to try, then said to myself, I have lots of old knee supports with tension and metal sides - they'd put pressure on - so I wore one too bed and it almost worked all night. So, I will try the knock offs with a little faith, and see if I should get the real thing! Thanks Sue.

And thanks Ken @johneman , for reminding us that fuel prices are fun the world over!

Morning all! Looks like we dodged another bullet with Hurricane Ian heading inland farther south than predicted. My heart goes out to the people around Cape Coral, Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda and Ft Myers. They were devastated by Hurricane Charley in 2004 and now they’re getting hit again.

    Not positive.
It runs ever so close to the ring gear.
Dam shaft itself is over a grand and has to be custom shortened…
    Having fun is expensive.

Just a comment on the recent conversation regarding health issues emanating from foods we eat...
First, I need to say that my information is from what I've learned from personal experience and what I've read over a lifetime, so I cannot provide expert sources.
We are omnivorous beings, defined as the ability to digest both animal and vegetable food sources. That ability allows us to prioritize other interests over sourcing and eating food, which figures into how and why we are so brainy.
Unconscious cravings for certain foods provides the roadmap to what the body needs to thrive and survive. Where we can go wrong is in the fulfillment of conscious cravings. Each of us having different needs at different times is proven out by what is left on family dinner plates after the meal. We don't have to even think about it, we just do it, but again, modified by conscious cravings. The forward planning of meals generally takes into account what we know we need to eat, but then, those immediate cravings take over and we wind up eating too much of this and not enough of that. Snacking between meals is not a bad practice in itself, as long as we are able to control our conscious cravings. Sugar and fat being two of the most maligned food sources, along with salt from mineral sources, actually comprise three of the four most needed and useful substances in our diet, the fourth being water. Its tasty preparations of those foods that drive conscious cravings that get us in trouble. Those of us that can get a handle on the difference between needs and cravings wind up having fewer conscious cravings and just naturally stay healthier than others. We don't need to read a book or adhere to fad diets to stay healthy, we just need to prioritize other interests in life over thinking about what next to stuff in our mouths.

Mike: Congratulations on a successful season.

The shrubs are gone over a period of 2 weeks and 20 trash bags later. Today is replacing a rotted landscaping timber and servicing the roto tiller. I also have an appointment with the nutritionist. Before and after pics. Still a lot of work to do.

My cardiologist recommended and insurance has approved the injectable cholesterol lowering medication. Since I’m allergic to statins and LDL is through the roof . Self administered every 2 weeks . They have been having great success with it and no side affects like statins . Hope it works for me .

Regular gas here has gone up $1.00 a gallon in about 3 weeks. Was $4.79/gal before I left on vacation and this morning same gas station $5.79/gal. Filled my truck and my boat. Boat was pretty empty and has close to a 50 gallon tank. Total fuel bill $286. Fishing, fun and fuel is no longer cheap. I love California and at the same time I hate California.

Good afternoon aged to perfection people.

Funny story: Yesterday I was invited to play golf at a swanky country club by my house with a nice dinner for 6 of us after. I pull into the parking lot with my clean and polished but 13 year old Tacoma. I was surrounded by $150K vehicles everywhere with a smattering of "normal" cars and very few of my age. After the round of golf and fancy dinner with my member friend, I walked back to the truck in the dark. Turns out that the fancy Jaguar F-Type parked next to me wouldn't start. Dead battery. Some young trophy wife was all flustered because she wasn't suppose to be at the club and didn't want to call her husband. She asked for help. My wife just sat in my truck smiling. It took me a minute to find the battery in the trunk. With a set of jumper cables that were not country club approved condition, I got it started. She barely said thanks and squealed out of the parking lot. Someone was in trouble. My wife and I drove home laughing.
