truck stolen, and I'm frustrated

I was a finance director at a large auto group, so I dealt with credit unions (and many other lenders) daily.

Our "agreement to furnish insurance" normally stated a $500 deductible for both comprehensive and collision; I don't think anyone we used allowed anything higher other than 1 specific lender, and it was $1,000.

I'll always carry $0 comprehensive and recommend others do the same. It's the difference of 1 or 2 Starbucks per month for most insurance companies.

Sorry to hear OP. I know you don't want to hear this, and as much as any one of us around here want the long dick of the law to serve the maximum amount of justice to that scumbag thief, that trucks not worth your life..
You carry insurance on it for a reason, and by all means, paying a $2k deductible sucks major asshole... BUT, its better left to law enforcement and insurance (even if they're not in a hurry to solve the case). The thief values their life less than the truck, they're most definitely safely assumed to be armed and dangerous. You have valuable information to hand over; don't peter-putt around some thief den and blow it all; go to the local station, politely request to speak to a detective about evidence pertaining to your stolen vehicle, file a report correctly, and let them do their job.

 

$2000 is a whole helluva lot cheaper than having to pay off a 2022 Tacoma 100% outta pocket.

 

You probably don't want it back at this point anyhow. I've heard of people getting their vehicles back. half stripped. Insurance pays to have it "repaired", but it could have electrical gremlins and the like forever.

 

Did you not learn anything from Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul? Don't fuck with the cartel or their addicted customer base.

it's not the cops job to get your truck back. There have zero legal obligation to do anything about it.

 

All I know is that when you go through the proper avenues to file a police report, and take that report to your insurance company with an address of where you know your truck is, the insurance company finds some sort of special way to NOT have to pay 30-50k for a brand new truck, and gets those police on the road to recovery..

What a fucking mess. I’m sorry you have to deal with that pile of shit. Most of our suggestions are really just more trouble. Vigilante justice just doesn’t work.

I'd be willing to bet it's in Mexico by now. We had 8 Tundras stolen from the dealer I worked at in a little under 30 minutes. They grabbed em and just took off. They last pinged going down the River in quebec. We think they went to South Africa or China. Sorry OP.
