Forums don't exist without people posting. A badly moderated forum means less people posting.

That's the sign of an overly moderated forum right there. People voicing mere opinions and others fearing the ban hammer. Pretty ridiculous atmosphere.

There are other Tacoma forums that are much more free-speech/anything goes than this one. It... isnt better.

Some people like it though. And you do get to reconnect with the ones that were perma'd from here. But it wasn't for me.

 

Have you considered sending chris a PM? Seems like he's open to hear your concerns. Give it a try; maybe you're the shining star TW needs to change the rules.

 

Imo the Nanny meter can def be turned down a notch or two in here and still have an acceptable atmosphere

You know, I thought exactly the same way you did when I was new to the site. And then I met the reasons behind the rules. Now I understand.

It's mostly because its a big site, and while everyone on this planet thinks they can respond to a knock with humor, most demonstrate otherwise when a joke comes knocking.
