These statements tend to be true only when the vehicle being rear-ended is not in motion. Backing accidents are quite frequently the backer’s fault.

That said, it’s easier for a vehicle in forward motion to spot someone backing up into their lane. Personally, I will stop and wait 99% of the time for that reason, but that is courtesy not legal obligation.

years ago I was using add a fuses. When these came out, made everything so much easier. I use an ect and cargo light pigtail for mine now

What did you use to trim your dash panel here? Dremel?

I need to trim mine, so I can mount the redarc trailer controller.

The person backing out into a lane has to yield the right away of on-coming/cross traffic. If they cause a collision (the backing vehicle) they are at fault. It may vary from state to state, but in my state you rear end somebody whether they are moving forward or not, you are at fault.

I stole that pic from the meso custom panel thread.
I’m sure a dremel would work fine though, a bit messy but would work good.

I just used a three switch cubby replacement for mine. It was all I needed

Got a call from the receptionist at work today and asked me to come out front. I was then told a lady had hit my truck in the parking lot. Walked out there to find this. She pulled in the spot way too close, not to mention there were several empty spaces on down she could’ve parked in. Fortunately it’s not major damage but still very irritating nonetheless. She was honest and admitted to it and I got all her info and already put in a claim with her insurance. The worst of it is on the fender flare and right behind it is dented. Scuffs on the door don’t feel very deep but will have to see what the body shop guy says.

With all these damaged Tacoma's lately I think I might park mine for a bit and drive the other car. I had someone almost back into me today in the parking lot. Granted it was 50% my fault :anonymous: as I was staring at an orange TRD Pro 4Runner and not paying attention to the pos silver x3 bmw who felt they had the right of way.

Thanks! I'm going to try a box cutter and xacto knife first.

I used a dremel, and then realized it wasn’t enough and finished with a box cutter. Truth.

Looking good! That Voodoo Blue sure is nice…I got stuck with Silver Sky Metallic as it was the only TRD Off-road in December of 2020. Thank you Covid! :D

Pretty sure we are saying the same thing. The dude who started all this talk was backing out of a space and was “rear-ended” by a potentially distracted and potentially speeding driver who had the right of way.

Finally put in 1” spacers on the rear mounts to help with the aggressive angle that causes back pain. Drove the truck all day and immediately noticed the difference. I chose not to raise the front mount as it would’ve kept the same angle.
