I know there are way worse things going on in the world right now…. But this is a bummer. Walked out to my driveway in broad daylight and truck is sitting there with rear broken window. 1 hour after a car wash… No one in sight!! Might be rock from a landscaper mower or random kid threw a rock. Who knows!!! 2022. Less than 2k miles!! That’s a just a damn day ruiner..

I will probably go to dealer since car is so new. Anyone have a clue how much they will hose me for??? My local guy is cheaper but kinda want it to be perfect since it is so new.

have insurance, initial web-quote is for just that one panel so less than $500 deductible. If it is whole back it would suck, but would be covered... Will be making rounds tomorrow to talk shops in person to get the real scoop

I'd guess that's not going to be cheap from the dealer if you're thinking out of pocket, I'd be calling my insurance.

Insurance is $500 deductible, which is fine (just not fun) - I might get lucky and only have to replace that side panel. but if whole back window will get pricey and I leave to insurance

I feel like they should be able to do just the one panel, hopefully the dealer price isn't too outrageous

The dealer is unlikely to do anything themselves. They will just charge you extra for them to take it to a glass shop or have a company stop by the dealership and do the work.

When my 2021 was 2 weeks old; took a HUGE rock from a Semi-trailer. Needed the windshield replaced… so I know your pain. So frustrating.

I know exactly how you feel. My wife’s first new car was a Honda Crosstour. I waxed it the first weekend we had it. So excited as this was the first new car we’d ever owned. Went into Walgreens for 5 minutes the next day and when we came out the window of the driver side rear door was busted out. She had left her purse in the rear floorboard and someone busted the window and stole it. I hope that guy steps in bubble gum twice a day for the rest of his life.

my story is certainly less dramatic-for sure - pretty sure a landscaper mower flung a rock - just that houses are close together here so not sure which landscaper and no video proof. definitely not a theft attempt.

That happened with my wife’s newer Corolla, I saw my neighbors weed eater out the day before we discovered her rear window shattered but held up with the tint. I’m 95% sure it was a rock flung by him but how do you prove it?

on a positive note for you, I think a broken window is way better then a dent that has to be repaired. Your window will be replaced and you’ll soon not even think about it

Sure is. Pretty sure landscaper mower flung that thing at window. But can’t prove it

yeah my neighbors and mine (different guy) both TODAY. Also. This would be 2nd 1 in a million shot from landscaper in past year. Last time they knocked on door and paid. Different car that had zero attachment too
