HF3500 generator absolutely kicks ass. Mine is at 740 hours with zero issues. Runs the AC on my race trailer HARD during the summer months too.

I’m not exactly meticulous on my oil changes based on the hours noted on the oil access panel either…just gets changed once per year in the spring

I'm in a similar situation, but have more things to power. I wound up with a 5kW Honda to run my fridge/freezer, chest freezer, well pump and lights through a transfer switch with a 240 on the outside of my house. I had a 7kW Generac before that I got for free with maybe 20 hours on it. It gave up making voltage, that's when I got the Honda. The difference in noise is incredible. You could not hold a conversation next to the Generac at idle, but can talk at normal levels over the Honda running with a load on it.

What I learned was while Hondas are significantly more expensive, they are the last gen you will buy unless your needs change. Also learned they can lose the field if you don't put a load on them regularly. I run an air compressor of mine for about 15m once a month.

ive used nylon knife blades before. very efficient on tall stalky grass. great call for perimeter blasting.

Morning all, question for you. Can shafts on hydraulic cylinders be welded? Cylinder on front end loader on our JD which tilts the bucket snapped close to the end that connects to the bucket. JD wants crazy money for a new cylinder. Any ideas?

Any pictures of the broken cylinder? I’m sure there are aftermarket cylinders that could also replace it, just might not be the same quality or strength.

Grind the chrome off if it goes all the way to the end and weld it. Should be fine.

I'd try welding it back together. If that doesn't hold, get a non-JD replacement with the same bore and stroke as the old one.

    Reserected from the dead.
More than likely that can only has JD green paint.

After market cylinders are easy to source and not much money.

I'm a fabricator and I won't waste my time welding up a ram.

looks very similar, looks like it should work. The one I had to get was for the steering and had a funky threaded fitting where the tie rod screwed onto middle ram in this pic, not something off the shelf that would work. I cut the threaded part off and welded into new cylinder, I’ll see if I can grab some pics of finished cylinder next time I’m up there.

Yours looks way more involved than ours. Texted my Dad and he is all wound up we can make this work and save some serious cash. Only real different is square eye fitting on end of ram which I feel is no big deal. Thanks for help everyone. [IMG][IMG]

I welded one of those ends back on a friends J.D loader in the field one day. He was loading round bales and it broke, been holding fine for 10+ years.

If there was ever a doubt as to how good @six5crèéd really is, I’ll put that to rest right now. One original and 3 he made. Difficult to tell the difference. 74C1EF74-C6B8-4212-BE42-B7F78A7F29AC.jpg53B10422-4EFD-456D-8105-3CCD28617167.jpgF367C5FE-4D48-426C-A1E2-BA1DE33992D1.jpg
Edit: he made me 4 but I left one out on purpose to show the difference.
Edit#2, this was supposed to be posted in shop time with creed and friends. Oops.
