Hey all, I've found someone with a prinsu rack that will fit my truck that i'd love to purchase. I currently have the OEM roof rack (which i've never used), but taking it off means I need to get all of the weather stripping pieces. Anyone know of any alternative, cheaper, options? The OEM stuff is outrageously expensive for some rubber.

    silicone?

Isn't the OEM molding like $90? Why cant you buy that to ensure proper fit and then cover the cost through the sale of your OEM roof rack?

You have a brand new truck and bought a prinsu rack, why dont just do it right.

Wanna trade my OEM weather stripping for your roof rack? I've got a double cab showing up in a few weeks.

Yeah, it's about $90-$100 each side. It seems silly to trade the rack for it, but the oem rack wouldn't really fetch much more, and then I wouldn't have to store it haha

I might consider that, i'll have to look at the pricing of things, and what the oem racks sell for

Yeah I saw that too, but I used it to replace my factory molding and it worked very well.

Yep! I bought it a while ago so unless they changed it, it’s the whole thing.

Yeah that’s not a bad idea. It’s a very sturdy, good quality product.

It came rolled up in a ball so I just had to unroll it and put a couple weights on it overnight to get it to lay flat.

Do you mind showing me a picture of what the back side looks like? The part that wraps over the back of the cab and meets the back window?

I actually didn’t use the full strip, I just used the pieces I needed to replace the parts of the OEM strip that were removed when I installed my Prinsu cab rack.

I wound up removing the rack and then needed to replace those parts of the OEM moulding that were cut out to mount the Prinsu.

I did lay the whole strip down on the roof before I cut it, just out of curiosity, and it was long enough to cover that back piece that touches the rear window.

Did that make any sense? lol

Ah okay. I see what you mean. The rear piece looks to be a little larger than the stuff in the roof channel. I actually have a buddy that has a tacoma on lease and I thought about just swapping the oem rack for his molding. It looks to be about $90 each side, and it looks like the oem rack only really sells for maybe $200, so the trade isn't to bad.

Yeah I mean if you’re going to get another roof rack anyway, you might as well just trade the OEM rack for the moulding. That way you have peace of mind knowing it’s the right stuff.

Yeah, and then i don't have the deal the hassle of selling the rack.
