Which means a boat is a type of transport for the Tacoma as well

Just checked mine again. Identical issue to yours. I didn’t see any rubbing or any problems. But we should both keep an eye to make sure the door seals properly in wet conditions.

I did some research and I think it’s pretty simple to adjust them

just have to loosen the door bolts on the inside edge of the door and then tighten them back once you’ve gotten it adjusted

not saying I’m going to do that …

Also, it can be fixed easily — but I don’t like the idea of the dealer trying to realign this door. I’d be concerned they’d fuck it up more. Seems like any time I get someone to fix something they break something else

lol yeah I think we typed at the same time - it can be fixed super easily if a careful person does it. Wonder if there’s some reason both our trucks have this minor issue. If this is the only “problem” with my taco I think I’m good.

Mine was built in Texas so I cannot say for sure but let's be real.

Who do you think is going to make a better Taco? A Texan or a Mexican.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
One could argue that the average person at the factory in Mexico feels fortunate to have what is probably a great job for that area and does their best to keep it. The typical union auto worker in the United States maybe not so much. Just something to think about.

    My thoughts exactly!

I know my newly built Tacoma from the Guanajuato factory is rock solid, perfectly assembled from an alignment and fit and finish perspective, and is easily the build quality of any of the higher end cars I've owned over the years.

Test criteria: Select 100 assembly line workers at random from the USA plant and 100 from the Mexican plant. Put them to work on an assembly line with the instructions to make as many widgets as possible in 8 hrs, for each part that passes QC each worker will receive $1.00 each defective part produced will result in a loss of $1.00 for each worker.

At the end of the day the Mexican team will quit and return to Mexico to buy 100 luxury villas. The American team will pool their earnings and buy a pizza.

I really can't complain about a thing on my 2020 that was built in texas just before covid. It had one dirty door switch i sprayed with deoxit instead of going back to the dealer. Problem has not returned. Other than that the trucks been great....no misaligned, or poorly assembled anything.

Based from my experience, my Baja California, Mexico made 2020 had hood paint bubbles (see image below) that materialized a year after. Brought it to Toyota's attention three months ago. The service manager initially was saying that most likely it won't be covered under the warranty coz I have PPF installed partly on the hood. She didn't really make sense so ignored her comment. Took almost a month and no callback. Called again the main contact (not the service manager) but apparently never got inspection report during my initial visit. So rescheduled again and this time, someone from the body shop came out and did confirm the defect. The next day, they were able to get Toyota's warranty work approval. So two weeks ago, brought it in and was completed in 5 days. Rental and new PPF were covered as well.

Never had this type of issue with any of my Japanese vehicles including my 05 Sequoia. It's pretty weird too that the bubbles were so close to each other (image below is a zoomed shot).

No quality issues whatsoever on my 2022 off-road! I love my truck! I think this whole thing about the quality control in Mexico isn’t as good is a bunch of BS. Look at all the garbage the San Antonio facility is putting out with the new tundra… it seems like it’s issue after issue.

Is it actually poor quality control, the bean counters? engineering? or is toyota at the mercy of sourced parts that are garbage.

Regardless of whether a quality issue is from the bean counters, the engineering of the vehicle, or the sourced parts, QC should catch the issues and send the unit for remediation. The fact is, the vast majority of Tacomas built in the two Mexico factories are virtually flawless, mine included, and are easily up to the build quality standards of my former 2002 E39 5-Series, which is to this day, widely considered one of the finest BMWs ever built.
