@zoo truck Good to hear you had good results with 15K OCI. My 92 was going strong after 14 years with regular maintenance despite 2 consecutive HG failures in the first 4-5 years. Had to sell only due to the kids car seat not fitting in the Extra-Cab part.

OCI.... It's whatever ones comfort level is. I have no tools, shop or place to do maintenance. I rely on the dealership and a trusted mechanic for maintenance. I have no idea what cheap, bulk, recycled synthetic oil the dealership use. So I feel comfortable erring on the side of caution. I drive in grinding city traffic most of the time and push it hard thru steep mountain passes to get to the cabin and back.

I will have the dealership maintain this truck until the warranty fades. Then it will be a mix of trusted mechanic and dealership over the long term or it proving to not be worth maintaining any further. Lol....... We both know that OCI discussion evokes strong replies here so I will humbly respect your experience and do what I'm comfortable with without further debate.

Since this thread has turned into an oil thread as 90% do on this site, I’m waiting on someone to bring up tire size…..

I believe in the first video, the man states the builder fills the engine with break in oil and runs the engine. Then the builder drains the oil and changes the filter and puts more break in oil. At this point, he states to run the engine 500 miles and do another oil and filter change. No?

In other words... The filter was working as it was designed. If you found no metal shavings would you have been concerned?

I'm in this camp. Extended oil changes are just behind the scenes EPA rules for the world to use less oil.
