Holy hell, so for 4.5k I don't get a fold-down rear window, or powder coat to match. If I was looking at this, I would buy a sungtop or just save up the 2 grand and get the camper.

Also note that to sell on TW you need to have a message count higher than 50. The Mods are pretty strict about enforcing the BST rules.

Unless you're really stuck on GFC, I don't think this price point makes much sense. AluCab isn't MUCH cheaper, but their new Contour canopy seems to be just about perfect. You can get a deal on the outgoing Explorer canopies too.

RLD designs is around the same price, 1 piece, and about 50 pounds lighter. looks similar enough to the rsi and alucab

The window doesn't open on the regular GFC either. It would be a nice option, particularly for cleaning the outside of the windows, but I don't think it's one I would have taken.

    Hmmm what a tough call.

I’ve got a Smartcap on order through a local-ish dealer but just watched GFC’s video for the fourth time…

Often need to carry 16’ lumber on my truck. Currently have a rack on it that ends just past my cab. If I can add something to the top of my cab in plane with the GFC beef bars, it would probably be fine to carry these lengths. Not sure if want to drill into the top of the cab. Is there such a bar that would attach to the top of the cab and accept GFC’s beef bars?

At that point, I might be inclined to get a GFC camper and have a pretty sick work / camp / bike / vacation rig.

There are several “cab racks” and I’ll have to do some digging myself to find out their height in relation to gfc beef bar height. I wouldn’t mind having them (cab rack) even slightly below beef bar height. Lumber, boards, etc that are long enough to span the topper and cab wont be affected by a slight height difference. Just need the cab rack to clear our Alucab when I throw it on for camp duties.

I’ll update this thread come December after the topper install. Will take measurements and see what’s available out there as far as cab racks.

That is for the arch supports and "plans". Kinda funny if anyone actually bit on that rotten cheese.

Reality. Four years ago I paid ~ 3K for my new installed Snugtop. I shopped and shopped. The subject of this thread is IMHO a better product. Reality is for your expected half off, you are looking at beat up four year old Snugtops like mine.

I didn't get the impression that they were trying to hoodwink anyone with "rotten cheese." It's pretty clear, to me anyway, that it's plans or just the parts kit and that it was still a DIY thing.

It is still the cheapest option I've seen.

I've definitely contemplated putting one on my old Ranger.
