Last time he was in here was when he was leaving one job, and moving to another. He only logged on during work, because he was in front of a computer all day. I was hoping he would pop in from time to time, but I think it has been a couple years!

It's the start of (America's interpretation of) Oktoberfest. I'm sure they're booked solid.
We have the dog in a rooftop tent and that's our limit. Kids would require alternate plans.

I am actually doing mine tomorrow. Was four seconds away from cracking the drain last night and realized "wait I used the oil for my wife's car didn't I". Yup. So I put it back up and had to get oil and then it was dark and then today it was this crap.

    Made
    1. Portuguese soup with turkey chourico
    2. Jambalaya (minus shrimp, bleach)
    3. Chicken and broccoli rice with cheese
    4. Pork roast (tiny guy)

Tomorrow is the baking day then up at ass crack of dawn Monday to bust out two focaccias for work.

:spy: that's how my dreary rainy weekend looks.

Hopefully it's dry enough to do an oil change tomorrow. If I'm feeling up into it, spark plugs too.

As far as tow behind campers go, mine is relatively compact when it comes to the tandem axle category. Our last one was 18’ and a single axle trailer.

The Outback trailers are nice, usually fairly well built and trimmed out nicely. Might be nicer than their house? :notsure:

We went in, there was one table seated. It was empty. So odd. Like don't people want money?

I toy with something like that.
She is trying to get me AWAY from work. If I had something that big, I'd want it in a seasonal site, BUT be able to yank easily to check somewhere else.
But, ideally, it'd be a self contained, pop-up slide in..
    Figure 1800lbs..my f350 won't even feel it....

I do like that camper for the small size. I can drag it around without weight distribution or sway control if I want, just hook and go. It handles much better with the W/D setup I have so it’s worth the extra 2 minutes connecting. If you go seasonal and will be spending a lot of time in it, I wouldn’t go with an ultra lite. I don’t think they’re built as sturdy as the normal weight trailers (mine is an ultra lite and it’s one of the things I’m really not crazy about, but works for our use). I could also easily go back to a 150 and still drag it around if needed, I didn’t want to tie myself to the 250 even though it’s a much more competent tow vehicle.
If you have the inclination to camp, I say go for it. It’s my favorite type of vacation. I know lots of families that do one big week or two week long vacation a year to somewhere cool and expensive, and that’s it. For me, I’d rather make 6-8 long weekend trips camping somewhere, spread the time out, more little breaks vs one long trip.

There's a 99.99% chance they had reservations for everything and didn't want to risk seating you. If you'd tried to get it to go there's a better chance.

I could be wrong but that's like cold calling dominoes during the super bowl, just "good luck".

Either that or the kitchen was down for the off hours while they prepped for dinner rushes.

I dunno. I wasn't there. :notsure: I've got some shrimp free jambalaya if you need a substitute :D

I just realized I bought the wrong product for a project I'm doing. Ugh.

    IMG_2314.jpg

This was my Friday since the joist hangers I bought for the stringers to build the ramp didn't show. I figured a nice paver platform base for the stringer to land on would be ideal. The more I read I think what I bought is too light-duty. They're listed as 2" thick, but the reviews are not as good as I had thought they'd be as I had nothing else to do tonight but read them.. I did have issues with one cracking when I was walking on it when it was unsteady but I assumed that was a fluke. My fear is the second I drive my lawn tractor on it up the ramp, it cracks.

I found a set of 8" x 16" x 4" ones that I might grab to replace them with and those are advertised for use in foundations. I don't want to redo my work, but I don't want them to crack the second I drive my lawn tractor up the ramp. Oh well.

It absolutely is. The house is really rough, it rivals some of the houses nearby that have been vacant and abandoned for many years. They don't even attempt to maintain it. They buy a new camper and new fleet of snowmobiles every other year instead.

Does the tractor live there year round or just off season? If the former, I think it's wise to redo the job.

Pull them up, put a few inches of concrete down, then press the pavers into the wet concrete, that will give them the boost in support they’ll need. Bonus points if you can put a couple pieces of rebar in the concrete.

Since we been talking about aging and the AT.

    https://reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/xtkkr1/71yearold_man_hikes_usas_gruelling_4000km_pacific/

PCT is really cool to me but doesn't hold an appeal to do it like the AT. The PCT is more if "if it works out and happens one day, cool" - where the AT is now an active drive.

Ignore that it basically ends when October starts (it's like mid September to the first weekend in October or something like that).

I bought ARP wheel studs "designed" for an IS300, but they work on a Tacoma no problem. The big thing I had to do was cut them down (they are 65 mm long, and I cut them down to ~52mm long), and with the front wheel bearings being replaced on my truck, the aftermarket hub stud hole diameter was too small, so I had to drill them out with a 17/32s drill bit (the holes were slightly larger than 12mm, and the 17/32s drill bit took them up to ~13.5mm).

I actually bought wheel studs from wheeladapters.com, but after seeing a thread in the 3rd gen section on how they were the same as Dorman studs with an extended shank and they wouldn't work on the front hubs, so I tried to return them, but I never heard back from the guy. Thankfully, when they came in, they are full length threads, so they will work on our trucks. I will gladly sell them if you are interested! I can take some pictures in a little bit.

The kit came with 24 studs (one truck), and I would like to get back what I paid for them ($64). The are advertised to be a 1/2" longer than stock, but stock studs are 40mm, and these are around 63mm long.
