The electric motor side of the hybrid equation has less moving parts. Is it less moving parts than a rear diff and axle or front diff? Good question.

By the way, you shake it, a hybrid taco will have more power and better fuel economy than a non-hybrid taco and it is the future and would be dynamite for wheeling. All of that torque available instantly...

 

hybrids needs all the normal stuff and the electric equipment... that is a lot more parts that can break

 

It honestly depends on how the motors connected. For example, on a hybrid Camry the electric motor functions as the rear drive so there isn't actually a separate driveshaft and differential back there.

I would imagine with a hybrid taco the full 4x4 system will be there with the electric drivetrain component as part of the transmission, in which case, technically there will be one more moving part. A moving part that provides gobs of torque instantly and Toyota hybrid systems are known for being ridiculously robust. Not really worried about it failing on the trail.

 

Until the ole toyoter comes around to pull yo non moving part off the trail

Feeing pretty good today. New kidney is a pissing machine. They have me on a constant saline IV drip and it’s just flowing through me. Almost all of the blood is out of the bladder and the urine and nearly clear. I’ll be moving back into a regular room later today the nurses suspect as they say my recovery has so far been excellent. Thanks for all the well wishes and the good thoughts. As you can imagine I’m really excited to be here right now.
