I searched the archives and I’m not getting any good results.

I’m looking for opinions on good off-road mudflaps. I was in some fields yesterday and hit the oem flaps a few times when moving through some holes. Nothing damaged but could hear them impact the ground.

Any better options that help the rock spray off the front and are maybe a bit more flexible for ground contact?

    thanks!

Get some cheap rubber ones off Amazon and drill your own holes that align to the factory holes. Works great

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
My only caution about mud flaps is to make sure the mounting screws allow for break-away of the flap. I would often lose one or 2 when snowplowing as I backed into a snow bank (consider the effect on the flap when pinched between the snow bank and the tire - it gets pulled downward). I also suffered serious damage to a front quarter panel when backing over a stump - seems the flap got pinched between the front tire and the stump and the sheet metal buckled before the fasteners let go. Very costly body work needed.
I don't have a recommendation regarding flexible or stiff like OEM. I would think that flexible sheds slush better when driving on slush-covered roads.

Not sure if anything is going to last if you're bottoming out in holes so deep to hit the ground with the stock ones.

Off road mud flap sounds like an oxymoron.

@ConantTaco: If you're replying to my post it's obvious you didn't understand what I was describing. My experience had nothing to do with bottoming out - rather a situation when backing up where the flap gets pinched between the tire and and obstacle like a short stump or a snow bank.

I have the Rokblokz XL’s and have been pleased so far. Provide a lot more front tire clearance than the factory ones, are a lot more flexible, provide a lot more coverage, and won’t hold the snow/slush like the factory ones did. Not the best pic, but….

I love my Rekgens. You can fold them nearly in half and they just spring back. They protect well too.

    Stock ones are pretty short.

Are you ok? I can’t make any sense of your responses. Yes I heard the plastic hit the ground, it’s not that weird. Thankfully they didn’t break off or damage anything. Something more flexible would be better, maybe the rockblocks. Additionally I drive on many miles of varying conditions gravel roads every day, the oem flaps don’t stop rocks from spraying up on the sides/rockers. They sit reasonably low but aren’t very wide, I think width is the issue.

Rekgen XLs are exactly what you’re looking for. Slightly longer and about an inch wider. Can bend nearly in half but keep the rocks off the sides.
