Today I'm going to be removing the subwoofer that came as part of the trd off road package (the one some of you call the flux capacitor and rightfully so). I'm removing it because I'd like that space to be available to me, for example to lay something across the back seat.

Anyway, once the subwoofer is removed will the sound system continue to work? I saw one post here where somebody said his radio no longer worked after removing the sub. If that's the case what would I need to do to get the stereo working once the sub is gone?

The models without a sub don't have plugs its just a solid piece.

    FWIW . . .

In preparation for adding my sub box and removing all the stock stuff from the back panel, I've layed up a couple sheets of fiber glass to cover that whole section between the 2 seats and had it upholstered.

I'm building a bracket that will, more or less, lay into the same spots and utilize the mounting holes to hold regular use items, like flash lights and a first aid kit.

I don't wanna trample your thread here, and will eventually start my own, but just thought I'd toss an idea out there.

 Been fighting this Access cab sub woofer since I bought the truck. I always leave it turned off and am relatively happy with the way the stereo sounds without it on. Been thinking about making a rack to store personal junk and maybe a fire extinguisher. Perhaps a charging rack for cell phones/cameras/flashlights?? at least I would get some real use out of the space. Anyone ever try something like that?

Rather than create another thread….thought I’d post up here even tho it’s old as dirt.

I’m doing this flux capacitor removal this weekend on a 2009 access cab I just bought and making storage space out of the footprint. Will post up pics when complete.
If someone happens to need/want the sub, hit me up. I’ll also have the center console that’s back there as well.

    PM incoming,

I’ll need some pics and such but I am interested. I have a 2015 Utility Package and all mounting holes are there but they are under the carpet.

I posted up some pics of the removal/build in another thread about access cab build outs. Will put those pics here too if I can remember how I did it in the other thread
