Just got door unlock notifications. That means it took 19 days on the train from Baja California, Mexico to Selkirk just outside Albany, NY. It's getting close.

With the Toyota app on my phone. Once you have the real VIN (not the temporary one before it's built), you can plug it into the app and get certain status updates. I know my car is in Albany, has 33psi in the tires and 1 gallon of gas. :D

<edit> I know it's in Albany because of @Ron03's help. The app doesn't give GPS location updates. </edit>

I have the Toyota app with my new ‘real’ vin applied. Given the truck’s been on the train since Sept 22., shouldn’t I have received notifications of some activity since?

I received nothing from the Toyota app during the 22 day train ride. Only updates I got were ‘last sighting’ updates for that rail car from Rod on this thread. Your dealer can see those as well.

Thanks! I see others, however, are posting about notifications on their app prior to the truck arriving. Or am I misunderstanding?

I’ve seen that to, and still don’t know why I never got notifications. I didn’t even get them when they moved it from rail to truck. But those that got them were likely between transports (transfer between rail, boat, or truck). You wouldn’t get notifications during the rail ride as nobody is unlocking the vehicle. The only progress is monitoring the rail car itself which is not tied to your app. Correct me if I’m wrong anyone, I’m no expert.

Yeah, it’s unclear who, why, and when some are getting notifications.

I've seen it before here in this thread even. If I recall correctly, your truck has to be capable of Remote Connect. Check the packages on your truck to see if you have it.

    https://www.toyota.com/connected-services/remoteconnect/

<edit> Then, it all depends on when you connect to your truck. You're not going to get status updates until the next round of notifications. So, if you missed the door unlocks at the factory, it could be days or weeks (19 days in my case) before you get the next round of updates. </edit>
