Little off topic but does anyone have beam pattern of the oem halogen fog lights and oem led fog lights (not the Rigid fogs on the TRD Pro)

 

Recommend pastor LEDs they are amazing

Do you happen to have the halogen fog output picks as well? I just got done installing the oem LED fogs and it was surprisingly easy, even compared to my old Scion which was already very simple, just more clips and bolts.

Also, how would you compare the Tacoma OEM LED fogs to the reflector style Lexus LED fogs you compared in that same thread? I kinda prefer the looks of the reflector fogs compared to the sealed beam looking ones on the Tacomas.

Yes, the Philips H9 halogens are the highest performing bulb for the stock halogen projector.

Congrats on the new truck. The OEM German Philips H9 bulbs are already the best option of the halogen high beams. OEM LED is better, but also a significant cost. For better high beam performance, you should look at adding SAE Aux high beams. Thread with lots of options below, though not fully comprehensive:

I was gonna start a new thread but decided this could be useful here. I bought my '19 a little over a year ago with ~9k miles. I'd be curious to know who owned it previously because I wouldn't be surprised if they were on here, given that I've discovered a few "leftover" mods that are popular around here. I imagine there was a lot more done to it, but they probably went "back to stock" before trading it in.

Anyway, I never gave much thought to the headlights....they worked and changing them just hasn't been anywhere near the top of my priorities. Until they started flickering this week. I've since discovered it has JDM astar LEDs. The driver side flickers almost constantly now, worsening by the day. I haven't been able to track down any cause for it...connections good, corrosion free, etc.

After reading through many threads, including this one, I've realized that I have incredible foreground lighting, but I use my high beams as often as I can for more distance. Initially I was looking at replacement LEDs. However, I think it's time for an H9 upgrade. I love the color temperature of the LEDs but after reading the science behind it all, it seems like that will be a small trade off.

I was gonna try to upload a video of the flickering, but it's giving me problems. I'm sure anyone can imagine a flickering LED. Posting a pic of this specific JDM astar.

 

Has anybody gone this route, or are they on your radar for testing @crashnburn80?

Same Chinese junk sold by several other companies. I wouldn't waste your time or money.

 

Apologies if this info is in the first post, I have not yet even removed a headlight bulb or examined them. I want to upgrade my stock headlight bulbs because I'm envious of the bright white light I see from every other vehicle at night, versus my dimmer almost orange headlights in contrast. Will not be replacing the reflector or housing, those will remain factory.

It sounds like there are two bulbs, one for low and one high, is that correct? I will buy the H9 bulbs but those are only for the high beam so what is the corresponding bulb for the low beams to match? Thanks in advance and sorry if the answer was right there and I just missed it.

You can instal H9s in the stock low beams over the H11s. You need to cut out the little tab in the middle of the plug for them to fit. Huge lighting improvement

 

Thanks! I think I see that the H9 is for both low beam AND high beam, so that would mean they are separate bulbs so I would have to buy 4 bulbs to do a full replacement, right?

 

OEM already comes with H9 in the highbeam (also see last page, post #5856)

You also posted you want "white"; you will not get that with this upgrade

you will get a performance upgrade in terms of visibility, but not white
the H9's are about 3300k in color
