I thought everyone would be losing their minds by now. I had to do several double takes when I saw that!

Thanks glad they are being enjoyed!

Sunday 10/02: morning started off with a banging breakfast sandwich at some tiny local convenience store that turned out to be a full butcher shop. Crazy things you find out here. First destination was Laughing Whitefish Falls - amazing falls with a huge staircase all the way to the bottom. I’ve climbed so many stairs this week.

    8094FF62-81D7-43B5-AA84-1513537C9822.jpg

Drove to Marquette with intentions of meeting some family members but apparently they decided to be in Arizona. So instead I drove up Mount Marquette for some excellent panoramic views of the bay and city below.

    F501A658-05FD-42ED-A203-25F23475D121.jpg

Another pasty at Jean Kay’s with coleslaw, spicy ketchup, and a birch beer. Delicious.

Most of my saved GPS pins were out of whack, and given my days are ticking away I decided to push west and summit Mount Arvon, the highest point in Michigan. Now I intentionally placed myself in harm’s way by punching it blindly into Waze and letting it rip, but this is often how I find new stuff. The time vs distance estimate should tell the story of how the mountain roads are.

    492C7F51-7BFD-41B6-A018-72353E80F042.jpg

It’s a gorgeous drive but rough. I’m glad I had my Tacoma. I did ultimately make it to the top, well worth it.

    E5DB35CA-AA96-4A7D-A00C-4572781A2520.jpg

On the drive back I took the “correct” route (i.e. not my original route that was waaaaay harder than it needed to be) and started seeing other cars parked along the way. Waterfalls each time and none were on my maps. I have to fix my maps. This is Christopher Falls, nice but relatively small. Right off the road.

    824A015B-0B45-467A-BC9E-0BA616820249.jpg

Next set of cars was a major surprise. First is Black Slate Falls. It’s a whole series of falls that I can’t upload everything. Here I thought my day was all but burned out due to 4 hours of off-roading…nope!

    975C4D5D-4A1F-4668-94D4-B60D3332A220.jpg

Just across the road bridge downstream is Arvon Swimming Hole but someone said it also has a different name. No idea right now but it’s huge and powerful. At the bottom does look like a great place for swimming when it’s warmer…but not today.

    1B0C7A80-B26F-42FA-B6D3-D4D6ECDA2E81.jpg

From here I got lost one more time and found some mud holes that were larger than expected. Single track, couldn’t turn around. Then I got to turn around and went back through because there was no other way. Alternator/belt is whining now - sound familiar? Yikes… (Sorry no photo of this, I thought I had one but probably on other camera)

As the sunlight was fading I ran across Silver River Falls in L’anse. WOW much bigger than expected. Multi section falls with some sketchy rocks you have to climb across. Again impossible to fit in a single photo but well worth the stop.

    D7D01E7D-ACFE-493D-82D5-216732EEAC13.jpg

Out of sunlight I found the nearest campground which wasn’t too far. Posting now from camp with two bars of service and it’s touchy.

    C4979FC2-5B11-436B-AFA8-15E14040F194.jpg

Anyone wonder what the price of rolling into camp late every night is combined with not being much of a functional adult sometimes? Dinners of imitation lobster meat and coleslaw tacos. Los Angeles can kiss my ass these are delicious.

    DBC17585-F790-48C9-B5C3-61796CA37F46.jpg

Bonus: The campgrounds have working showers with hot water!!! Tomorrow morning begins with de-stinkification!!

Lol when I had my tundra I also took the rough way in and easy way out to the highest point. Definitely enjoyed the journey more than the destination.

There used to be a place around l'anse or baraga I think that had fresh cinnoman roles that were the size of softballs and were really good but one was two meals.

Hung out with a buddy today at his family's place. He just bought a little Hammerhead Kart for his kids and we decided to make a track out in one of the fields today. He mowed it with the tractor and then we took the Taco out there to break the track in a bit. It was great fun!

Thanks and glad to share! All good so far, coming close to the halfway point faster than I want!

@sparkystaco I did indeed find those cinnamon rolls at Hilltop Restaurant. $5 but it is massive. Still determining if one meal or two.

Update: Turns out it’s an apple cinnamon roll. Even better.

Update 2: One meal. One delicious and shame-filled meal lol.

The departure angle is lacking. Needs more lift.

The awesome thing is that the camper can be removed. So you can find base camp, drop the camper, and off you go!

That company makes some wild stuff! I could have a lot of fun if I won the lottery.

If they're as good as the cinnamon rolls from the Amish bakery in Mondovi, I couldn't really blame him.

I will neither confirm nor deny. However I checked my blood glucose level after eating the first one - results said yes I have a small bit of blood left in the sugar stream. Therefore a second one might be the end of me.

PS - I hate that damn movie. College roommates used to watch it daily. It was torture.
