I think I still have DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 on floppy somewhere. I'm missing the last disk though. When the installation asks for the final disk, if you hit enter enough times (like several dozen times), the install gives up asking and completes the install anyway. I think it's just extra fonts and printer drivers.

My hand still shakes when I think about the 30+ diskettes required to install MS Office.

Used to setup 30 computers in a conference room and spend literal days swapping floppy disks. If some one says something about the good old days I will literally whip them with a Type 2 token ring cable.

I'm in the process of moving. I still have my network setup at the old place, which has a WRT3200AC as the primary router. I thought about setting it up at the new place, and just subbing an older router in it's place for the meantime. I instead decided to buy a new router. Wasn't really feeling anything from Linksys' current selection, and was never a fan of Netgear. Decided to try Asus. I bought a RT-AX86U. I think this will be my go-to brand from now on. Hardware seems good, good wifi range, and tons of things to tweak. And I think AiMesh will come in handy in the future.

I have the ASUS mesh. Rock solid. The motherboards last a decade - I expect my mesh to last too.

The last couple builds, I used Asus mainboards. The only Asus product I wasn't too happy with was a laptop a bought a few years back. The lid was way too flimsy for my taste, and ended up returning it.

I had an Asus router I used as a WAP for a long long time. Never blinked, fast, excellent range. "

I love trying to get work done when suddenly a forced gpupdate kicks off that is pulling a full GAL down while updating 300+ policy items. At 8AM.

Do that shit at midnight, man. Fuck.

    Hi all,

    Hopefully a quick question…

When at a RV park using their Wi-Fi I connect my Wi-Fi extender to their network and set up my own (different name and password) local from the extender that my devices connect to.

Do I still need to use my Nord vpn for security?

    TIA

While you have your extender set up so only you can connect to it, all of your network traffic is still going through the RV park's network.

One of my battery backup units cried uncle last week. It's an ancient rack mount unit with 4 batteries. One of them looked like this. It made for interesting extraction, given that they load onto a slide out tray.
