Thanks. I am working on the writeup for the amp install. I also put sound deadening in all the doors the back of the cab, and under the rear seats.

No. I actually used screws and attached it to the plastic cover between the door and the back of the cab. Gets good airflow and had not overheated. Not the ideal setup but very functional.

I might be misunderstanding your question, but if you have a stock JBL amp, then you must retain it. An additional amp can be added, but not as a complete replacement for the factory JBL amp.

Correct. I have the stock JBL amp and the JBL DSP amp. You need them both unless you replace everything.

Well that’s a bummer, I got the JBL audio, not by choice but because it was the only reasonably priced truck I could lay my hands on. I’d planned on upgrading the speakers at some point, but it seems like it won’t be a simple swap of compatible speakers?

I upgraded the dash and doors to start and that made a huge difference. Much clearer sound and somewhat louder. 3.5" two way in the dash and 6x9 3 way in the doors. Used JBL real speakers for replacements.

I saw your thread, I’m not digging the idea of having to mod the parts like that, I’d rather use drop in speakers but it seems like I’ll have to pair that with a head unit upgrade, too.

how did you get the signal from the head unit to the RCAs on the JBL added amp? Did you simply ‘T’ into the existing signal wire coming off the back of the stock head unit? And then add those RCA connectors to the end gonna into the new JBL amp?

    Thanks in advance

For drop in speakers, there's a parts list, including the adapters, in the spoiler link found here.

Cut into the existing harness and used line level option. I have a diagram somewhere about which wires are whic
