I got this cool little non contact tachometer a while ago, only $25! I checked it on the bench grinder and some drills, seems quite accurate. I have set the governor on several small engines so far. It uses reflective tape, a tiny piece is all that is needed, it came with enough tape for years.

I’ve been looking at this one, it is a bit more expensive. but I don’t think it requires tape to function.

That is the old style that uses the spark plug impulse therefore engines only.
The one with the tape works on anything that rotates. I checked my oldie air compressor, the new (to me) exhaust fan I installed, kind of fun to tinker with.

Thanks for the offer Adam. Dad wants me to see if local weld shop can weld back together. We need this tractor operating this time of year, tends to get some deer blood in the bucket....

Well that picture is way more helpful. That surely can be welded. Is the ram bent at all? That’s a serious shear off.

Grind the paint off and that won't be a problem at all to weld back together

A good welder won't even mess up the chrome :D

No problem, trying to give ya some extra options. :fistbump:

Too bad my little 110 MIG welder couldn't do that work. I know the 480V MIG welder at work could do that, but I doubt I could sneak that in there

So many places I could go with that, but I'm not

I could jump in one of the Kubota's and go outside of the gate to the parking lot to get it, but yea I'm not even gonna attempt that

Last large scale power outage I almost went out and got my truck as the lights on them (Kubota's) are pretty weak. Couple things I had to keep track of outside. Guards wouldn't have cared in that situation

I'm a Millionaire! One Million Posts!!
I just had a new one delivered today. I waited 3 months for my local nearby dealer to get a 36", but Scag would ship him a larger one or two every now and then... no 36". I decided last week to check a dealer about 25 miles away, and he had just received one 36" the week before... so I bought it. I'm still waiting for the mulch kit to come in. It's on backorder.
My question is about the operation of the "Dump Valves" to freewheel the mower. I know where the release levers are and how to operate them, but it still seems to have a lot of resistance to rolling. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong?
