Another vote for 31.6" tires. The cons outweigh the few pros of larger tires IMHO.

Funny as I just posted this on another 285 tire post. My likes are probably different than yours (maybe my age). I ran 285/75R/16 KO2s mostly on roads until I wore them down below penny-test acceptable range. When I bought truck lightly used, these are the tires the prior owner chose. Was never happy with these large heavy LT tires, especially with snow and ice. Got around 17 or 18 mpg most of the time. I downsized to 265/75/16s last week (Kuhmo AT52s).Size and look feels right. Truck drive is more responsive. I expect my gas mileage will go up with lighter P rated tires. Snow coming soon…we shall see.

After riding for a week this is what I ran into…. My commute back and forth to work not one rub.. and I wan taking hard turns on dips , nothing. …but when I loaded the whole family the rub finally happens. Honestly wasnt too bad ,,extremely slight.
I am running with the front mudflaps. Driving true with no vibes… will get alignment soon.

Here is some specifics on the build so far

    -bilstein 6112/5160
    -Icon aal + overload
-Spc uca (set at +2 degree castor)
    -1” bora spacer stock sr5 wheel 16x7+25
( spacer + wheel comes out to 0 offset)
    -cooper at3 285/75/r16 at 53lbs

Be aware it does bog down the truck with this tire..that was the lightest 285 I’ve found . Going up hill is where it’s noticeable flats not so much.

Toyo AT3s in 285/70/17 are 46 lbs. Glad you got your new tires.

Putting the TRD lift on my 3rd gen today at work... Now I HAVE to go 285 after seeing this thread :). Are there 285/75/16 "P" options for my road princess? (don't want 10ply)

most likely yes, if you don’t have a upper control arm to bring up the caster. Also depending if your wheel offset.

I have seen threads around that people were able to put them on without the upper control arm , remove or heat and warp plastic lining and remove flaps , but having a zero offset is key …

I think you will actually be alright, mud flaps could present a problem. At full crank it may slightly rub.
