Installing a transceiver and inadvertently caused an arc directly behind the interior fuse box, blew the 30 amp fuse. Truck cranks, no dash lights no start. Have verified all fuses and tested relays, reset control module. OBDII will not communicate with truck. Will check OBDII connector in the morning ( make sure it is getting contact) but am stumped. Any suggestions?
Have 2018 Toy Tacoma, was installing a transceiver and inadvertently caused an arc under dash next to the interior fuse box, was grabbing power off the red 18 gauge wire behind fuse box blew 30amp fuse under hood box, checked all other fuses, checked and tested relays. Engine cranks but does not start, no dash lights. Hooked OBDII sensor and it will not communicate with vehicle. Reset control module, "no joy" Will check connector in the morning, but am stumped to what is wrong. Any suggestions?

Smells a lot like you just fried your ECU.

Welcome to the forum :hattip: sorry this has to be your first post.

Sorry but you are probably dealer bound on this one, something expensive probably got frosted.

These trucks are incredibly sensitive to any electric work, folks have taken out important parts installing LED map lights. You always want to disconnect the negative battery terminal for any electric work.

Let us know how it turns out and good luck.

Guess you were 'out-to-lunch' and didn't bother reading any of the electrical posts on TW.
Sorry about your woes. Not trying to rub it in.

A ecu from Toyota Your Price: $547.69. Retail Price: $806.20. You Save: $258.51. Check the fit ... 2018-2020 Toyota Tacoma Ecm Dealer will charge you list, diagnostic ($150) and install fee. Alway disconnect battery when doing electrical work. Everywhere on this site says so. Good luck

didn’t mean not to check wires and fuses but if it’s the ecu what it would cost. I have read too many wish I had disconnected the battery.

get this transceiver thing out of there and all the wiring you did. have you added other electrical after market stuff prior or is this you first?

Lol you really think he can do that himself? Everyone is good at something...
Personally, I suck at wiring. When I absolutely have to do it myself, I take 10X longer and incredible safety precautions. I not only disconnect the battery, I put the truck in a Faraday cage and pull the main breaker to the house.

Do you have a wiring diagram? That would be step one. Not replacing the ecu for christs sake

Caribe is the resident expert on wiring issue. Ignore the others for now and follow his lead.
