I called a shop and they quoted me 450 to do a full flush… is that normal?(I’m in SoCal) Seems a little too much but he said he needed to check everything like shavings and things when “dropping the pan” and couldn’t guarantee that it’ll fix my shutter problem. I did a drain and fill myself as well as the filter. I didn’t see anything that wasn’t normal. To be honest I’m about to go buy some shutter fixx haha

To my knowledge, you don't need to drop the pan for a full flush? Also remember seeing a YouTube tutorial for a transmission flush with a buddy that could save you a good bit of cash. Personally when I had issues with my trans, I just dumped a bottle of lubegard in with a quick drain & refill, and it fixed many of the hard shifting issues for a good 8 months or so, but now it's starting to feel a little rough again

I wouldn’t let any shop do a flush unless the flush included dropping the pan, replacing the filter, cleaning magnets and then describing to me how they verify it’s filled to the proper amount.

There’s a certain procedure that needs to be followed to get your Tacomas tranny fluid at the right level and you need to verify that they actually know how to do it.

The shop was quoting you a full service flush plus ATF pan removal to diagnose the shudder. Did you tell them you had already done a drain/refill? It’s not likely a flush will fix the shudder at this point. I’ve read positive things about the Lubegard Instant Shudder Fixx. For ten bucks, it’s worth a shot.

To do it right with Toyota WS fluid you will need 12 quarts at roughly 10/quart. 120 bucks in just fluid alone, + pan gasket + trans filter.

I should’ve been more clear on my original post haha my bad but I told him I replaced the pan gasket, filter and even said I had two unopened bottles of ATF left since I used a little over 3 quarts.
