Ok I'm kinda new here but Im wondering why my used 2nd gen had better tech? (more things that i needed and used than my 3rd gen.) My 2014 had maps, cleared call history and maintenance apps easily available. The home screen showed location, audio and a few contacts(4) I like my new truck, but am am i missing something? ( I got the off road for the look, but really miss my sunglass holder. I know, I know, I know)

My 3rd Gen has far better tech than my old 2nd Gens, heated seats, heated mirrors, power rear window, sunroof, navigation, blind spot monitors, back up sensors, automatic climate controls etc...

I will admit that I haven't figured everything out yet, can someone explain how to show location? When i drive fit shows fuel efficiency bar graph, radio info, and 4 contacts

Do you have built in nav? I’m assuming if you do not, that Home Screen will not show location by default (as it has nothing to draw from). You would have to connect via CarPlay/android auto.

What do you mean "show location"

If you navigate to the navigation screen, and poke this symbol, it will display your "location"

Thanks fir the responses, I'll try and mess with it this week, was brand new but i don't know what it can and cannot do. My last one was certified pre owned so much of the stuff was already there. Haven't been an original owner since 2006

Rather than jump on a forum and spend time whining, use that time to read the owners manual.

If it's not in the glove box, it's available on Toyota's site for free.

Sorry to sound like I'm whining, that wasn't my intention, and my choice of words wasn't the best. I know the 3rd gen tech is better. I just appreciate the ease of use tech that the 2nd gen had "out of the box". Yes i will spend some time with the manual over the next few weeks but the learning curve was so much easier. Again I love my new truck.(still miss that sunglass/readers holder) never had a manbun, birkenstocks or a hipster beard. Plead the 5th on the crocs

    Not meaning to :deadhorse:
But we all know 2nd Gen is the best gen, thanks OP for clarifying, some of these guys and gals need a good reminding.
I kid, I kid, OP, I’m sure there are plenty of detailed YouTube clips on how to work/set up your head unit. Just be specific with the year when searching. If you’re a visual/hands on learner like I am then this might be your best approach, best of luck.

the sun glasses holder is in exactly the same place as any other brand of vehicle ive driven in the past 20 years (if its had it) very intuitive location for those who are intuitive

I have a 2nd and 3rd gen. The 3rd gen tech is way better.
