Exactly this. Leaves and grass clippings should be left to mulch, they *feed* your lawn.

Oooo, you got that one right.

How can I miss the bagels! and the delis! You're basically describing all of NYC culture.

It's like the tacos and mexican food of LA/Southwest. We have mockeries of that here. A few ones are actually pretty good, but nothing can compare. Same out west. Y'all got bagels and delis, but they just aren't the same, but some are close.

Pizza :puke: don't even try. A few places in Austin and LA come close, and aren't bad. But Denver style? WTF is that!?

I like the colors, it's nice to drive up the Green or White Mountains, fortunately I don't have much trees around.

Welcome to what lobsters are. They used to be prison food.

I distribute throughout the lawn THEN mashy mashy.

I bag one or two mows in the spring just to get rid of the junk from the winter. And then after I do the first mow, I grow to seed, so that second mow can be a bitch.

But otherwise, spread the leaves, mulch. Yes grass clippings should be dropped back down, becomes a layer of thatch for the lawn! If you always bag your mows, you remove the thatch. The lawn has no protection, and then you get a dust bowl!

My lawn is about half clover now, so that helps too.

I see we're very on topic this morning.

That does depend on how many trees you have though. When I lived in Atlanta I was in Grant Park, covered in giant oaks, and it would literally drop a few inches deep of leaves over the whole yard, front and back. You couldn't just mulch them with the mower, it just left an inch of chopped up leaves and grass would die (also city of Atlanta so had to bag them, that sucked). Now, I have a much nicer and landscaped yard, with few big maples in the back and some large river birch in the front. I can hit those with the mower for the most part, but usually do one big blower/rake cleanup per year for the heavy leaves, otherwise it is just too much debris for the lawn. I just haul those off on a giant tarp to the woods now though, much better than filling 40 leaf bags.

I haven't crabbed before, but I imagine that depends on how good you are at it. Me and some college buddies hit the keys this year for a fishing trip, and did a half day of lobstering. It was later in the season so not as plentiful, and it was not as easy as youtube made it look. We ended up catching 6-7 total, most of which were under size by literally a cm or so, and ended up with 1 big lobster to take home. We took it to the restaurant that night, told the waitress we brought our own lobster and handed it to her - she said "that's it, where are the rest?" and laughed at our faces. It was delicious, but between the charter and the restaurant, most expensive lobster I have ever had.

    I just mow.

If it can't survive the natural conditions it doesn't deserve to grow there.

    I am 100% a lawn fatalist.

crabbing is super easy compared to hunting down lobster.

it goes by tides.....sit at dam/weir when the tide is falling out and drop a net with chicken necks or beef liver and you'll rack up pretty quick

super simple, and when they're in the area you can have a full limit in 30 minutes or less

That's why I have clover growing in my lawn. Stays green in droughts and then comes back. Self replicating, I just let everything grow to seed in the spring.

My neighbors must hate me. I grow clover, it grows to seed in the spring and looks like junk, I don't care about leaves so they blow all over the place.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    You didn't try hard enough.
    I support this message.

We recently bought a new house that has two giant chestnut trees. I debating on what to do with these little bastards.

My wife came home one day and the rose bush/tree was gone.

    "What happened?"

    "Thorns. Now, no more thorns."

Plenty of things that grow and look nice without thorns. No need to deal with thorn BS in your landscaping.

Mow it and buy new blades every year /s

i have two big Southern magnolias in my front yard and they drop large very dense cones this time of year.....they get chopped

first two years i made the effort to pick up each cone....yea, that got old quick. The first year we had a hurricane pass through and i must've picked up 300+ cones afterwards. My trash can must have weighed close to 200 lbs of just cones, but it did help the trash can to smell all nice and pleasant.

my probelm with those cones is they fall and make craters where the land and then they sit there and rot and leave big bald spots in the yard

1/10 would not recommend southern magnolia in any yard where you plan on cutting grass weekly
