I'll add another vote for the HF winch line. With the amount of good feedback on their winches, I'm sure the line is good. I might look into one of theirs as a backup.

Definitely on both. After the Bayfield trip I plan to spend some quality time underneath the truck cleaning up any rusty spots as well as repainting the sliders. We can set up something that works for you for to touch up the fluid film on both the taco and the T4R

So close to me by close I mean an hour, that’s considered so close, right?

An hour drive is practically in your backyard. Nothing ever happens in my area so I consider anything under 3 hours close :(

Yeah, an hour is close. After driving to Florida and back the last 6 winters, even 4-5 hours feels close. :D

Pine Island. My Mom's BF has a house on a canal. It's currently missing about 1/3 of the roof and the ceiling is laying on the floor, though. :(. Going to be an interesting trip this year.

    Thank you!

They live up here in summer, so they weren't there fortunately. They're heading down this weekend to assess the damage and make a plan.

Oh goodness…. I can’t imagine the anticipation on that trip down there. Hoping for the best case scenario…. Whatever that is.

I appreciate that! I am trying to figure out how I can afford to take some time off of work to go down and help them. There is no way my mom's boyfriend is going to pay a contractor to fix it. He's an old farmer and hates paying people to do stuff that he can do himself.

Of course the hardest part of rising the house will be getting to the island.
Damn, if I had a barge, I'd be down there!

Desantis was trying to get the road passable by this Saturday. They should be able to drive to the house.

Monday 10/03: Got coffee and a cookie at L’anse Cafe and asked about that previously mentioned cinnamon roll. Got the cinnamon roll at Hilltop Cafe, ate cinnamon roll, result was a combination of shame and accomplishment. To help forget about it I stopped at Ogemaw Falls.

Hiked at Canyon Falls only to find out later that I missed the best part because of my dumb map. I’m having technical issues up here…someone send an IT guy to help the IT guy?

Agate Falls was next - can’t really see it from ground level due to the incredibly treacherous gorge, but you can see from a huge snowmobile trail bridge from above. It’s three huge falls (this is just one of them) but they sure look tiny from a few hundred feet up.

Everyone kept telling me to visit Bond Falls so I visited Bond Falls. WOW. This is another spot where so much is going on I can’t even describe it all. One huge falls with multiple smaller but also large falls. Very busy with tourists even on an weekday. Definitely worth it.

Drove west to Bergland and fueled up. Damn gas got expensive - is it like that everywhere from the hurricane or something? Fella goes into the woods for a week and prices go up $1/gal, I tell ya…

Tried getting a campsite in the Porcupine Mountains but they don’t allow it without 72 hours notice, dumb. Camped at Black River Harbor campground nearby, then hiked Great Conglomerate Falls.

Drove to Copper Peak ski area because I thought I could drive to the summit but that’s wrong. They do have open WiFi so thanks to them I’m posting this update now. Weather is nice and warm but I know it won’t last much longer. On to the next spot!
