It is very significantly more. Did you read his comment? The Rivian weighs 2500lbs (maybe 3000 with a bigger battery) more than a taco. That has major implications for a great number of things. That's why my stance is that for common people, a small EV for around the city is great, but for towing, overlanding, trails etc, they're not a good solution

The R1T curb weight of 5840lbs is roughly 1300lbs heavier than a DCSB Tacoma at 4500lbs. It’s in the same window as a F150, Ram 1500 or Chevy/GMC 1500. The Rivian isn’t light but it’s not heavier than other trucks that still tow, overland, off-road, etc.

It weighs about 600lbs less than my TRX and I do all of that without problems.

You might wanna let them know to edit their wikipedia page. The curb weight is 7,148lbs. That would be obnoxiously heavy

If you zoom in you can see the GVWR on this R1T is 65xx pounds with a payload of 1419lbs. That math works out to about a 5100lb curb weight. Google said 5840lbs curb weight and 7148lbs GVWR. I completely forgot to check these stickers on the one I test drove a while back.

I imagine you would probably wear thru tires at a much faster rate also.

7000+ is what I see everywhere online.

Are you sure that’s not an “8” in the start of the GVWR?

No, I’m not sure but I thought it looked like a 6. It’s not a very good picture but it’s the only one I found quickly last night. Wanted the actual numbers not Wikipedia numbers.

Those are surprisingly close to the numbers on my 2002 K2500 Suburban that I used to have. I had a travel trailer then.

@Turd Ferguson a better picture, it is an 8 not a 6. Maths out to a 7100lb curb weight so another number that doesn’t match any of the others we’ve found so far.

I think my numbers i found from EVspecs.com may have been for the dual motor, is this from a quad?

I wonder if they played legal games and upped the GVWR to above 8500lbs to take advantage of the more relaxed regulations for heavy duty trucks.

I deleted my posts. Just so many numbers floating around and can't seem to find them on Rivians site.

Nah, the GVWR is just a rating, not an actual weight. In theory it could have a 5800lb curb weight, 1400lb payload rating and a 8500lb gross weight and be legal. I should have mine in the next few weeks and will go over the scales and find out for sure.

Happen to get in quick on a chat with Rivian....here's what they say on weights.
No separate sheet breakdown for weights on drivetrains or MaxPacks. I would think the dual and quad motor weights would be different with or without MAxPAcks and model types R1T and R1S.
