I watched Sunday's episode again this afternoon and realized "The Hand" has 2 sons...one of which has a bum leg and the other a Knight.

The Hand tried to resign his post but the king wouldn't have it without knowing the simple truth.

Alicent is confiding in bum leg brother who decides to pass judgement.

Will Alicent reward bum leg guy?

(Don't be annoyed at my reference of the 2 brothers) lol

 

Make sure you watch the 'after the episode' summaries that air immediately after the episode on Sunday nights. They are like 4min long and summarize everything you just watched and make things more obvious that you may have missed. They talked a lot about the Strong brothers and why Larys (bum leg) did what he did.

 

Larys (Bum Leg Guy) is this show's Littlefinger, dude is manipulative as hell and plotting his long game at all costs

 

Oh! I do wait for the "after episode" preview/summary. lol

The way I interpret what happened is...Alicent was frustrated that the King could not see what Rhaenyra was doing...she felt alone.

She confided in Larys and because he knew what his father and brother were up to, he thought it a good idea to be the next heir (in his family) and reinstate Alicent's dad...since it was Rhaenyra who got her dad fired. (That's my thinking of why Larys did what he did)

Agree that Larys is the next LittleFinger for sure!

 

awesome episode aside from the short part where i was as blind watching it as i was during The Long Night in Season 8

 

The first 10 minutes was all reading actor's expressions...lol

It was a very awkward family get-together.

Bum Leg brother (New Little Finger) that just inherited his father's estate (or whatever it's called back in the day) is making his services known.

So, a name is more memorable than blood?

It was dark but watching it without light glare in my front room was helpful. lol

I rewatched today on an actual TV instead of an iphone and had zero issues seeing anything. Larys Strong feels like a combination of both Littlefinger and Varys somehow

I've seen these comments and a lot more about the brightness and don't remember it being an issue at all when I watched. I have a harder time hearing what they are saying than I do seeing what is happening. My wife and I are constantly asking each other what was just said. I don't know why I haven't turned on subtitles yet

We do have a new TV I just bought a few months ago, so maybe that helps with the lighting issues. The TV we watched The Long Night on was pretty terrible and we couldn't see anything. I finally bought a new TV after we watched the 2nd season of See (on Apple TV) and the first season of Outer Range (Prime). The first episode of that show was so dark I lost interest in the show because I was so lost as to what occurred in the premiere. I miss the days of brightly colored and lighted content.

The DVR is set up to record all the episodes on my xFinity account. I'll watch the episode on Sunday at 9pm and then again on Monday, Tuesday...

Bought a 65" LG Nano in January this year...wife finally authorized the purchase! lol

I've definitely started watching with subtitles. Even though my wife is Scottish w/English accent, there are times I have to ask her to repeat what she says...and we've been married 32 years!

Plus, I enjoy the comments you all put in this thread...so, thanks!

 

The last episode they filmed much of those night scenes during the daytime but slapped a ton of neutral density filters over it to make it look like moonlit evening. The effect is kind of cool aesthetically, albeit hard to see what's going on especially on a smaller screen. But when the actors are squinting their eyes while looking up it kind of ruins it lol. Must be a bright ass moon

 

Article about why they film night scenes during the day for HotD, then dial them down and filter them in post-processing to look like nighttime.

I had zero issues as well when I watched on our newer tv as well. Sony x90j with hdr on and dolby vision bright setting. This is using the built in google tv platform as well. No external stream device.
